Roma was inarguably one of the best directed films of the year wtf are they talking about
The arrogance of someone voting and bit even watching all the movies is insane
Inarguably? No, sorry, that sounds a lot like “this is objectively the best movie” which isn’t true of any movie
They're openly talking about how they haven't even seen some of the movies in the category, and even slept through some of them. Not only that but giving BlacKKKlansman over The Favourite because of social commentary is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. If the movie is the best of the year, then it should be your vote for best movie, you don't pick the second best movie because you liked the social commentary. That and the bit about Roma not being worthy because it is being watched on a television instead of a theater? Fuck off.
Breaking News: Oscars Voting Committee are One Big Farce - Who Would Have Known?
I'm not even remotely sure why you guys are mad about this guys votes, and not the fact the system is what it is. I'm kind of sad to see that there isn't going to be much "discussion" about this, just outrage lol
giving the system a blowjob because you hate it. Doesn't make sense does it? Stop watching the oscars, it has always been a gross sham.
Burning should have been nominated for best picture and foreign language film. The Oscar's are pure trash.
This is one of the cases where I hate the headline but sort of understand after reading the article. So should you.
You know what? Let's talk a moment about A Star is Born for a moment, since Hollywood's reboot machine has made it all so hilariously timely. In the 1954 version of A Star is Born, the lead role was played by Judy Garland. Yes, Wizard of Oz, Have-Yourself-A-Merry-Little-Christmas Garland. Her performance in that led to her first ever Oscar nomination, with anyone who was anyone locking her in firmly as the pick given the competition of that year. This was a huuuuge thing for her; Hollywood in general had put her through the ringer especially hard, developing massive self esteem issues after stuff like studio executives telling her to her face that she was an ugly duckling. But now, it was all coming up! She had definitively made it now, and was gonna prove her worth in front of the world no matter what! ...Right? Thanks to those self esteem issues, doubts started to creep in again. But then, when she gave birth to her third child on the day before the ceremony, the Academy scrambled to make sure she could still "Attend". A camera feed was set up between her hospital room and the ceremony, manned by a full crew so she could watch and react live... As the award went to Grace Kelly for The Country Girl. Then the crew silently packed up everything and left, not saying a single word as they left her to stew in the biggest bait and switch she had faced up until that point in her already turbulent life. Fuck the Oscars. Fuck 'em to death.
Except Roma was shown at film festivals and had a limited theater run before it came out on Netflix? Besides even if it only came out on Netflix why can't you recognize it as a legit film? I don't get this guy at all.
