Video shows jail attendant beating handcuffed suspect in Buffalo
And he only got 18 months for doing it. Pathetic.
And of course it's a room full of white guys beating up a handcuffed black man. Your dicks aren't going to get bigger if you do this, boys.
LMAO, racist much?
Yes, institutional racism it's called
ctrl + f "nigger"
Strangely enough, racism is more than the word nigger.
No one is making anything, systemic racism is a thing in the police forces as well as in prisons
Racism is a myth, remember we had made literally every racist repent for their sins back in the Civil Rights movement and not retreat back to their homes without punishment or anything like that.
We single handed destroyed racism no way it exists anymore especially not in our police departments where say maybe a racist might have power over those with different skin tone.
Yes, systemic racism is a thing. It's a core pillar of American culture. But do we have an objective declaration of motive?
are you seriously saying racism doesn't exist unless someone says nigger
Hey if it was the other way around I'd be condemning it just as much but expressing surprise at the reversal of the usual status quo in the US. Last I checked the US didn't have a majority-black police force frequently throwing white people in jail for pot possession or shooting unarmed white guys and getting away with not being convicted of murder at an unfortunately common rate.
When systemic white-on-black racism in the US has been eliminated you can feel free to roast my ass if I post a comment acting like it hadn't been. Until then methinks thou doth get offended on someone else's behalf too hard.
I'm just questioning why people are jumping through hoops to make this an act of systemic racism when it's actually just sociopaths making a retarded attempt at a power move.
Systemic is longer sentencing and lack of justice to the victim. You can argue that the 18 months is due to systemic racism. but the assault itself is down to sociopathy as far as we can tell. I don't get how this is so hard to follow.
Why is sociopathy more likely than racism?
I'm not offended. Fuck 'em. I'm just wondering why the assault itself is somehow racist when it's readily visible that it's just another case of sociopaths in the prison system abusing someone. They abuse anyone. women, men, white trash, minorities, gay, trans. Why do they not count towards the classification of the systemic problem?
It's my conviction that the systemic racism happens in the courtroom and the trial by opinion in the press. What happens with violence towards inmates in jails and prisons is down to shitty hiring practices favouring violent sociopaths with zero regard for anyone.
Even if we run with the claim that it is "almost always down to sociopaths", which needs sourcing, can't sociopaths be affected by racial bias?
Sure. But how wildly are we to interpret this situation to get the result we want, rather than the one we can actually ascertain as it stands? I don't know why we're reading into this like it's bible school. but I recognise the same gymnastics after Liam Neeson tried to share a story about how vengeance is futile and it somehow all had to become about race instead.
You're not gonna solve an abusive prison system by swapping violent racists for violent non-racists. You're gonna solve it by getting rid of the violent people.
Oh please, Liam Neeson does not show a historical pattern of prejudice, American police does. Do we know for a fact that this is racism? No, do we know for a fact that it is sociopathy? No, but you are ridiculously certain of that assumption. Follow your own advice and go only by stated motives.
So in your opinion, unprovoked violence towards a restrained person isn't an indicator of sociopathic behaviour. But it's definitely racism?
If you really want to argue that it's discrimination, I'd go for the fact that people serving time or are accused of crimes have an insane prejudice against them by both the public and the system. But I guess fingers in ears and yelling racism is safer. That way you can be sure the issue won't be addressed for what it is.
There's plenty of racism to go around and not enough resources and mindspace to handle it People are absolutely tired of everything having to be about race and I'll also make the case that it trivialises the scale of the problem by underselling the issue and steering it towards a debate everyone is deaf to and worn down by.
Making everything about race cheapens the discussion about race relations. I don't know why we have to stretch so hard to cheapen this when we can go with what's readily observable and push for the necessary change on a broader level. It's kind of silly.
It can be both, in varying quantities and amplified by peer pressure.
You have not demonstrated from a factual or logical standpoint why your interpretation is any more valid than mine. It may be correct but you have not substantiated that.
Basketball is widely recognized as a sport ingrained within black culture, with 74% of the NBA's players being African-American. Yet even there, its referees showed degrees of racial bias, until media attention and/or NBA's own reprimands (which the organization denies doling out) brought awareness to the refs, who, from then on, exhibited no bias at all. Bias in police has been documented as well, and it stands to reason that it would be worse than it is in the NBA. The problems involving accountability are immense (there isn't even an official tracker of police killings in the states), and it involves dealing with a police culture of suspiciousness and looking out for one another - as this passage from an article in The Atlantic states:
Because the police are essential to every criminal case—as witnesses and as investigators—a prosecutor who wants to go after a cop is risking alienating the very officers she relies on in every other case. Even setting all that aside, grand juries and juries alike are often reluctant to second-guess police and so decline to indict or convict.
oh ffs why am i bothering with this effort when you can't bother to read 2 fucking lines
not everything needs to be about race but sometimes it's relevant dog
Why are they allowed to refuse to release CCTV footage?
