Damn, this is really really late

Bethesda have now done this so many times that they were banned for having 'too much ammo.'
Tbh I can't even work up the effort to care about this. I can't be the only one that's just tired after hearing about a new controversy this game's caused almost daily since before it even launched.
Surprising absolutely nobody. Almost everything in the MTX shop is recycled from Fallout 4 in some manner, it was only a matter of time.
Also:
The cosmetics items are themed after The Unstobbales group from the
Fallout comic book series. Finding all five of the comic books in
previous Fallout games gave players stat boosts. In Fallout 76, finding
The Stoppables Comics and consuming them gives them a chance to avoid
damage of a certain type depending on which issue they find and consume.
The Unstobbales costumes are still available in Fallout 76 but no longer provide an HP boost.
I think the article's author is having an aneurysm.
Was anyone honestly expecting this wouldn't happen? If you're so ethically bankrupt that you'll put micro-transactions in a full-price game from day one, everything's possible.
reset the clock, it has been ZERO DAYS since a Fallout 76 fuck up
Hasn't this been posted?
ah alright.
I remember saying that this upgrade is minor but it is a betrayal of goodwill, something this game doesn't have a lot of right now.
it's a shame since it's a novel idea for a game, but Bethesda just fucks every aspect of it in manners not even covered in the kama sutra. this is just another drop in the terribly dark ocean.
Its weird how its blowing up now, the event happened like 20 days ago and its already over. Back then I didn't even see any noticeable backlash from the typical youtubers. It kind of makes me think that they're more just looking for more clicks with "bethesda outrage" than actual concern. I was definitely of the "well, this could set a bad precedent camp," but thankfully the current events have reverted from that. Still not sure why bethesda thought it was a good idea when it so easily bite them in the back.
I think most players were more annoyed by the continued lack of correspondence from bethesda about the bugs that were still around at the time than some silly event that lasted a week or two.
Now in terms of actual gameplay experience:
When I was playing then I didn't notice any major difference even while soloing. There weren't any major upswings of roving groups of players griefing people with the costumes. Hell, I think I only saw one person with a store bought one (because it was the only one that didn't look like absolute trash) and one of the costumes you get in game through an already existing questline. You can buy the costumes with currency earned from in game achievements as well although if you hadn't saved up, yeah, it'll take a while. In the end it probably mostly helped out some groups of players who were fighting the scorchbeast queen, but considering that its already a cooperative effort, and if you tag it you get loot even if you die, it probably just ends up helping everyone on the server who's contributing.
Overall - negligible effect on gameplay from what I saw, but the fact they did it once despite saying they wouldn't add stat boosters, however slight is not great.
Personally I think it was just something to get people to make cute gimmick photos wearing those costumes, but the life boost didn't really seem that substantial. I'm still wary though, I'm not
ready to completely condemn them, but it is right on my boundary. This was something that went under the noses of so many people evidently from the fact it didn't blow up weeks ago when it was actually active, but I'm starting to think the only people outraged are the people who don't play the game. In fact, it's starting to seem like the people who constantly report on the game don't play it anymore and just regurgitate whatever they hear without much further investigation.
I remember even reading that the guy banned for his ammo apparently wasn't exactly honest with his methods, and wasn't entirely using legitimate methods, but people are taking his side nonetheless
Seems the news likes to stagger the reporting of stuff like this to stretch it out as long as possible just to keep Bethesda on the news.
Reminder that as a consumer, you only stand to lose from defending big companies.
I don't know how they keep fucking this up. Are all the developers interns or something?
I'm just trying not to be knee-jerk about it, I try to examine everything about the situation first before deciding I want to be outraged. If I didn't like a game, I wouldn't buy it and I wouldn't even be talking
about it. I always make my grievances known when I know there is some weight to it, but at the moment this isn't something that pushes those buttons to me, others have zero tolerance though.
The studio who made it were the ones who were making BattleCry. Before Fallout 76 they worked on 2 multiplayer games and released none.
Yeah, don't be this guy

"I'm not a fallout fanboy"
Yeah, you seem to be more of a corporate fanboy
yep
bethesda had essentially infinite consumer goodwill, to such an extent that people were willing to buy broken products that were fixed by mods
and they used this consumer goodwill to try and screw people over with paid mods (twice), rereleases of the same game while still broken, deceptive collectors editions, and a shockingly broken "early access" survival game
they used consumer goodwill as a mechanism to extract more money, and nobody should buy a bethesda product every again until they've proven themselves better
"I have a business degree" Imagine spending a few years of your life at an university to get your degree and then just use it as toilet paper. That is assuming he actually has one in the first place.
I know all the games I like are objectively amazing because I go onto internet forums to fight about how good it is, rather than play the game. Or anything else.
