I think that having possibilty to place half-foundations would make it a cheap and good way to protect yourself from having a few rockets ned to raid your base fully. I know they want to limit usefulnes of honeycombing, but at the moment this would really help. Here's the concept:

I think based on their 2018 Q4 roadmap https://rust.facepunch.com/roadmap/ They would rather find better options for defense than honeycombing. This idea probably goes against that philosophy for them.
I like the idea of having different foundation options, but i think they'd not do so because it would make honeycombing more of an incentive, which they said they want to limit the usefulness of.
