http://collider.com/marc-webb-your-name/ Marc Webb has signed on to direct a reimagined version of the 2016 animated movie Your Name for Paramount and Bad Robot, which acquired the rights from Japanese company Toho, Collider has learned. Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams will produce along with Genki Kawamura, who produced the original film, which Lindsey Weber will serve as an executive producer on the project. Eric Heisserer (Arrival) is writing the reimagined screenplay, which will now follow a young Native American woman living in a rural area and a young man from Chicago who discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. When a disaster threatens to upend their lives, they must journey to meet and save their worlds. “Marc was our first choice to direct this refashioned interpretation of the film from the moment we explored creating an American version,” said Kawamura. “As we saw in 500 Days of Summer, Marc has a tremendous talent for telling great love stories and in the same way moviegoers were captivated by the original film, we are certain Marc will engage fans of the original and an entirely new audience for these characters’ beautiful journey. With J.J. Abrams producing, Eric Heisserer writing and Marc directing, this project officially has the team we dreamed about.”
Fuck. That.

Oh and I almost forgot, getting the guy who made The Amazing Spiderman 2 is the other worst thing you can do as now it's going to be dated on the year it was made even by dated pop movie standards.
the reimagined screenplay, which will now follow a young Native American woman living in a rural area and a young man from Chicago who discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Never cared for Your Name. Half the time it felt like I was watching an AMV. Still though, it doesnt deserve to get butchered like this.
It's going to be ruined.
I have no words
it's funny because the visuals was one of the few things good about that movie. whats the fucking point then
can they please don't call it remake just make a ripoff or something shame on Toho for allowing this
I mean, there's creating a live action, and there's butchering a live action.... I think we all know which one this is...
no just no please no, one of the amazing things about that movie is just how faithfully they're recreated actual places in animation.
Okay. I wasn't a huge fan of it but I wouldn't be opposed to- Eric Heisserer (Arrival) is writing the reimagined screenplay, which will now follow a young Native American woman living in a rural area and a young man from Chicago who discover they are magically and intermittently swapping bodies. Eat ALL of the dicks.
This isn't even the first time this concept was done. Literally just make a new movie with a similar concept for fucks sake.
yikes
Arrival was great and all but its style and substance could not be further removed from a concept as fucking stupid as this.
that implies the movie was good in the first place. i'm sure it's great if you discount the fact that it has more holes in its story than swiss cheese
Yeah fuckin' magic isn't real.
i never implied that the plotholes were caused by the movie containing magic or whatever. adventure time has magic, jojo has magic, but i love both of those things because they either don't have plotholes or i'm unaware of them. probably the most infuriating moment in the movie was when taki could have written his name on mitsuha's name but refused to because shinkai wanted the movie to last longer and be dramatic with the tradeoff being taki becoming a complete mook, unless there is some super ~deep~/meaningful reason he didn't write that was explained but i didn't catch. there's also the fact that taki somehow didn't hear about the city being destroyed earlier himself even though it should be like japanese 9/11. and even if you were to discount the other plotholes by having a higher bar of implausibility to consider certain things plotholes, the first plothole i mentioned is just absolutely unacceptable. animation was pretty good though
He was a teenager in love probably not the smartest state of life, fair point on the last one but I can forgive it.
Jojo is plothole proof because araki doesn't even know how his characters shit works
What was Amazing Spiderman? Don't remember.
If by some miracle his version gets an oscar while the anime version didn't, I am going to scream.
