Prime minister promises to hold vote by 12 March in delay that will deepen splits in her cabinet
MPs may have to wait until 12 March for a meaningful vote on the government’s final Brexit deal, Theresa May has said, in an intervention which will deepen splits in her cabinet.
Without a reworked withdrawal agreement to bring back to MPs, the prime minister has promised to table an amendable motion – which will allow backbenchers another chance to try to block a no-deal Brexit.

Either she's on the verge of making a new deal with the EU or she's not and she's using the extra week to figure out what the fuck is going on
really unconcionable that the government is cutting it this close
We don't have time for this shit you withered fucking husk of a woman.
We're almost certainly going over the cliff-edge due to inaction rather than actual desire at this point. Fuck the Tories I genuinely hope each and every one of them are proud of themselves for managing to fuck a country this hard, this fast. Because it's not like they've ever done anything else of worth.
People were previously saying that end of Feb was the latest possible date, and that even if Parliament approved the deal at that time it would be a rush to pass the deal into law and get everything ready in time to avoid no deal.
I'm sure a two week delay won't matter too much though xD
how the fuck can she even sleep at night jesus christ
The year is 2038
Brexit negotiation talks are to be postponed for another year.
My money is on the latter, although if there's a no deal Brexit, my winnings won't be worth much.
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhäuser Gate. All that except for Britain brexiting from the EU, can you please make up your mind before I die?
She doesn't sleep - she just stares at pictures of her MPs until they burst into flames.
Even if the deal were approved *today*, we would not be able to pass all the necessary legislation to implement it by 29th March.
I guess maybe her epic plan is to get a deal approved and then delay Brexit by like 2 months just so they have time to pass the laws
Which would be great if she had a deal that could pass parliament
Asked what she would do if she lost the meaningful vote, she said: “Why is it that people are always trying to look for the next thing after the next thing after the next thing?
Why is it that people want to know what's going to happen to the country within the next month? smh, fucking plebeians.
The year is 2038. The Unix epoch wraps around and Brexit is delayed for a couple more decades.
By that point, the UK will probably Brexit by moving onto a spaceship driven by a space whale like that episode of Doctor Who.
Think she's winding the clock down so MPs will feel compelled to approve the withdrawal agreement - which, when it's between that and no deal, they should. The choices are either the withdrawal agreement which will enable a somewhat smooth transition out of the EU to enable negotiation on the "future arrangement", whatever that will look like, or straight to WTO with the backstop border down the Irish sea. The withdrawal agreement is agreed between the UK govt and the EU, so idk what concessions MPs can expect to get further out of the EU to make it better. You can't get much better when you're leaving.
Because she's a rich cunt who hates the poor. She knows that whatever she does she will never have to face the consequences of her actions.
Sociopath.
Suspended upside down from the rafters, wings encircling her body.
The closer to a no-deal 29th the country gets the more chaos there will be. There's gonna be even more MPs defecting the parties, there'll be violence and hoarding. I'm expecting either a last minute deal or a last minute brexit delay being made.
Brexit could be delayed until 2021, EU sources reveal | Politics..
This is VERY bad form and tactless but I will sure as shit be playing a remix of ding dong the witch is dead when May dies.
It will definitely chart just like it did with Thatcher
I bet May was an absolute delight to work with in group projects in school, assuming she wasn't educated in Merlin's workshop. "The assignment is due in two days and you haven't even started your part!" "Oh it'll be fine, darlings, I'll have it done, you'll see."
"I'll just ask for a renegotiation of its due date."
"You've tried that six times, Theresa! And they said no each time!"
"Then I'll ask again."
Well, Labour's Shadow Brexit Secretary has already called for Parliament to prevent this happening. I can see there being some interesting conversations and maybe motions made this week considering the way things have shifted with the threat of MPs going independent and Corbyn slowly leaning off the fence. I would assume behind the scenes most of the Shadow Cabinet are separately hammering Corbyn to put his personal views aside and respect those of his party, not to mention the larger motivation of swooping in at the last moment to save all of us from the end as we know it. I think up to this point both parties have been running down the clock and the first to blink is going to gain brownie points for it in the history books, despite having chosen to run down the clock in the first place.
The PM is clearly aware that the timescale she's planning makes disaster on the 29th/30th inevitable, no matter what follows her (unlikely) winning the vote. The damage will already be done as it'd be a damn sight harder to rejoin as quickly as possible, than it would be to extend or cancel Article 50.
You say that as a joke, but right now that's practically the best possible outcome and it's looking less likely each day
Yooooooo
Telegraph reporting that May is considering delaying Brexit by two months

Two months won't be enough.
