Gonna be real with y'all, animated was the one I was really keeping my eyes on who would win. So happy Disney and Pixar lost here.
incredibles 2 was okay, but i think the first was better
mirai was average, but i'll give it an extra point for having a new song by tatsuro yamashita in 2018, that gave me a nice surprise at the beginning and end of the film.

isle of dogs was a very close second imo to spider-verse, but spider-verse was just generally an overall better movie.

Damn, I thought A Quiet Place was a shoo-in for sound editing, given that that's the whole schtick of the movie.
Everything I've heard about that movie has made it sound painfully average.

In addition to what other people said, Brian Singer is also an unbelievably awful person who should be in jail for assaulting and raping boys. He doesn't deserve to get an oscar.
