Spain of all countries?
Hey do you have something against Spain? :V
Jk
But, I'm glad my country is the healthiest, I didn't even know. Even tho here the public medical system is shit, if you ask for an operation or whatever the waiting lists are hell, as well as most public workers being (pardon me for saying this) lazy fucks in its great mayority.
Here the top 25:
Italy
Iceland
Switzerland
Singapore
Australia
Spain
Japan
Sweden
Israel
Luxembourg
Norway
Austria
Netherlands
France
Finland
Germany
Canada
Cyprus
New Zealand
Greece
Portugal
Ireland
United Kingdom
South Korea

America is #35
Cut down on the burgers will you jesus
Spain numero Juan!
No fucking way did we beat America; we’re even more obese than they are
I'd say no, but American diet is just unhealthy in general compared to other countries.
There's a lot more factors to take into consideration than just obesity rates. Healthcare, cultural attitudes, and mental health are all factors as well.
You have universal healthcare though.
Bloomberg cites a reason other than diet is a rise in drug overdoses and suicide, leading to lower life expectancy.
Highest life expectancy and "healthiest country" are not exactly the same things imo. It's a good metric, but a lot of different factors influence life expectancy, including genetics, so on its own it doesnt tell the whole story on what country does its best to keep its citizens healthy imo.
You should make a difference between quality and access to healthcare, and things like nutritional habits, frequency of physical activity...
A country that literally has "pain" right there in the name? Come on
Huh. I figured mainland Europe would be worse than it is because of how much they seem to smoke.
That would be the Balkans.
Reminder: If Europe ends up on some list about unhealthy stuff, it's mostly because of the Balkans.
Huh, Denmark is missing on some of the lists, and its hard to believe we're that low on the others.
Personally I'd rather live 5 years less but remain reasonably healthy until the end than spend the last 10 years of my life as a wreck.
must be all the siestas they take?
Wow hoe are we so close and yet so far?...
America is plagued with chronic disease due to a lack of access to affordable healthcare. Americans who can't afford doctor visits or ambulance rides opt to ignore their problems or simply die. Even if America has a lower obesity rate than any of these countries, they all have much better access to preventative healthcare.
I'm surprised we still within the top 5, let alone the number one after the continous self-sabotage to our public health system and the worker rights, plus obesity skyrocketing due people only being able to afford trash foods.
The index grades nations based on variables including life expectancy
while imposing penalties on risks such as tobacco use and obesity. It
also takes into consideration environmental factors including access to
clean water and sanitation.
"Primary care is essentially provided by public providers, specialized
family doctors and staff nurses, who provide preventive services to
children, women and elderly patients, and acute and chronic care,"
according to the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies
2018 review of Spain, noting a decline the past decade in cardiovascular diseases and deaths from cancer.
Ah ok that's why.
