I don't think even a waterspout could do that unless there was an EF-5 tornado turned waterspout that conveniently left no other trace of damage (i.e. the photo in the article would look like a war zone) as it passed by.
Local residents of the area reported that they heard the phrase "Hello ground!" moments before discovery.
Unfortunately, they could not reply back for they all spoke only Portuguese.
