Yeah no shit. Its tiring as hell those first few months getting the little vagina spawn to get a proper circadian rhythm going. It's even better when they want to play ON you at 1 in the morning.
Worth it though because the baby is cute.
That's where we'll have to disagree. More power to those who want crotch goblins, but no thanks.
You will never understand the true power of love then. It's an unfathomable thing until you got a halfling saying your name.
This.
My son's first word was Dad, and it's the greatest feeling in the world.
Sleeves
And taking their spare time live and money hostage.
Man I sure hate free time and hobbies and sleep and money and health and calmness. If only I could fuck myself into having none of the above.
But, my dude, without crotch goblins you wouldn't exist. Crotch goblins are love, Crotch goblins are life.
That's why being an uncle is better. Don't need to sacrifice your sleep schedule or hobby to play with your niece/nephew.
you wouldn't mind not existing because there wouldn't have been a you to mind it in the first place
Having a child is probably the single worst thing you can do for the environment. I don't understand why you'd want to make one of your own.
The primal desire to further your bloodline.
Being raised to be a part of the Ouroboros.
I'd be happy to be an uncle. Not only do I get to entertain a kid, but the parents are happy for the free time.
having children is important, this attitude of children being parasites disgusts me. life isn't all about material pleasures, it's about nurturing, growing, life, and love. a child is the essence of hope, the propagation of your line, the work you put into the world pushing forwards into a new generation. a child is how you make your mark on the world, your philosophies and physiognomies continued and evolved through their experiences, good and bad. an extension of a line longer than any of us can ever know. a continuation of your spirit, and the spirit of those before you. it is bigger than the immediate, it is the past and the future coalescing, continuing a line that has been drawn long ago, one that you may choose to continue. having a child is not for yourself, but for the benefit of those who have been and will be. it is long-term thinking, something I think people need to take creedence from.
a child is more than a child, but a generation.
Joke's on them, I've gotten 10+ years of sleep deprivation with poor time management alone. No baby required
The headline almost reads like it's saying parents will get punished with sleep deprivation as if having children were a crime with the way it's worded, lol.
Still exhausting though. Little fuckers have WAY too much energy. I don't remember having nearly that much energy at that age.
I mean it's not hard to understand that hundreds of millions of years of evolution are screaming at you to make more babies. Evolution has literally been tweaking us for all this time to specifically make us want to squirt out tykes. Our brains are geared to want to make babies. Whether or not making babies is the best thing for an individual's happiness or the planet, it's something we're biologically driven to do so it's no wonder that many people want to have babies.
Some lines deserve to end.
Why? Because you are not good? You would end a bloodline that has gone on for centuries because of yourself? This is pure vanity. You are so selfish that you think you should kill a bloodline because you are unworthy? You relish in your insignificance, you want to be the last of your kind. It is shameful that you, in all your glory, should cut short the line that links you back to when we were apes. You decided to end a string that could go on forever because you're just too broken, it's too hard, you're too important. You are the only thing that matters to you, nothing else.
What arrogance you have. You do not care about the continuation of your bloodline, because you are the most important person in the world. Nothing that happened before or after you will matter to you, so why care? It doesn't matter, does it? You think that we're just atoms spinning in darkness, meaningless meeting meaninglessness. Your life is nothing, your ancestor's lives were nothing. Your children's lives are nothing. Is this true?
Genetics are meaningless, the ideas and values you pass toward your children are far more important. Which is why adoption is so much better. You get a child to call your own without the massive carbon footprint of creating a whole new person.
Does this count for cat dads too? My fucking cretin cat keeps me up a hell of a lot.
While I agree with you on a critical level, adopting is so much better for the world around you for arguments that we won't go into, there's something about having your very own kid grow up to look like and sound like you or your partner or your parents. Unfortunately.
I refuse to continue the bloodline of abusive narcissists, especially since both lines carry significant genetic disorders and illnesses. Just because your family isn't a shitpile doesn't mean everyone else's isn't.
Woah what the hell dude, it's ok to value self-happiness. Every action you take doesn't have to be for people other than yourself. It's really dickish to put him down just because of his personal decisions.
Genetics are not meaningless, they make up the very base of our existence. Let alone epigenetics, which express at the moment of conception, genes do have an effect on what and who you are. Children are not blank slates, they're a culmination of everything before. Yes, the ideas and values of a child are pliable, but there is something deeper, within the blood. Behaviors and thought processes pass through the bloodline.
I have a fascination with collecting and holding onto things, in preparation for some unknown use. My mother collects and holds onto things that could be potentially useful. My grandfather, whom I never really knew, also kept things, found uses for them, had a shop full of trinkets and objects he had collected over the years, some of which he eventually found a use for. My uncles do the same, they have a habit of collecting things to fix or sell or have around. This goes back to my great grandad, and his before him. It also extends to extended family, people I have never met, but share the same blood. They also have a habit of collecting things because they might be useful.
I could guess that long ago, it came from a time where my bloodline lived a hardscrabble life, where everything needed to be kept and could have a use because life was hard. Everything has a use, and thus it should be kept. I was never told this. It is just a feeling I have within me, something instinctual.
Do you think a fawn is taught by it's mother to stay still if it senses there is trouble? Or is it something more primal, a knowledge that comes from... somewhere? Deep in the blood, that raw feeling, knowledge that you just know. Instinct
This is the line I think should be preserved. Your bloodline's instinct, soul, behavior, whatever. There is something about genetic children that can never be tapped into with adopted children, can never be passed along through pure ideas and values. There is a distinctness of a familial bloodline that is comparable to an artist's oeuvre that I think is worth preserving and passing on.
My parents have always mentioned that I was like a dolly as a baby because I was mostly quiet, I rarely cried and I was 2 months premature. My younger brother however, after he was born we didn't get a decent night's sleep in 5 years lol
Every random jackoff having a baby is not good for our world. We don't need to follow our instincts like slaves, we can decide for ourselves what's best for us collectively.
every random jackoff is having a child, those who might be able to think forwards are deciding not to, putting their own lives, carreers, and temporal comfort up front. this is a problem.
