And this is why I agreed to appear before you today,” Cohen said of Trump. Cohen’s closing speech came after more than seven hours in public testimony before the House Oversight Committee, where he launched a fusillade of accusations against his former boss’ character and actions.
Imagine the GOP running with the slogan “We must ensure a peaceful transition of power—Vote Trump!”
Oh god, the worst thing is I can actually see that exact thing happening.
In 2000, Clinton staffers committed several acts of vandalism before handing over to the Bush administration, including stealing keys from keyboards and glueing desk drawers. It cost around $13,000 of public money to put right. Now imagine if the President had been a petty manchild who wanted his staffers to actively sabotage and fuck over the incoming administration as much as possible
I can imagine Bernie entering the oval office January 20th only to find Trump still in the seat unwilling to move.
My biggest fear is donny finding out about some ancient super emergency button but for president's that allow them to extend their term due to some kind of issue or whatever. And congress has to shit on their duff for a hot minute because of it. Like, I doubt it would come to that. I just wouldn't be surprised.
Well so long as Bitch is still in charge of the Senate, you can be sure that they'll play right into whatever Trump is hoping for.
What do we even do if it comes to this?
I am not worried about this at all, this seems more than a little sensationalist.
if there's one thing i've learned over the last 3 years it's that when it comes to this administration, always expect the worst
Nothing food for Trump
2nd amendment covers this
Well, him simply saying he's still president means nothing. It would only be if others accepted that claim that he would still wield any power. Would Congress follow him? Doubtful - any scenario where Trump gets voted out is one where the incoming Congress is heavy blue. The Supreme Court would not follow him - they might tilt a super-narrow election his way, like Bush in 2000, but they would not endorse an outright coup (I daresay this one would be 9-0, much as I think Kav and Gorsuch are unqualified for the job). I think we can safely say the military would not back him, not without some serious rationale for a coup (someone check the Capitol building sprinkler system). This is America, we do not take kindly to tyrants. And so I find the idea that Trump will seriously resist the transfer of power incredibly unlikely. Trump's a power-hungry narcissist but he's also a coward. He talks macho on Twitter, but he doesn't have the guts for something that brazen. Most of his nefarious plots are being foiled by simple court action. He spent months floating the idea of spending unauthorized money on The Wall under the pretense of emergency, probing whether his own base would accept it. If he's too afraid to do that without using Fox News as a focus group, he clearly doesn't have the balls to barricade himself in the White House and spark Civil War 2: Orange Boogaloo. No, he'll make a big fuss, say the Dems cheated and blame the illegals and the hackers and Clinton (somehow), and quite likely refuse to formally concede... and then hightail it to Russia once the vote count is official. (Seriously, can we put a stop on Trump's passport? Put him on the do-not-fly list? He's a real flight hazard.)
He already said he might not accept the election results if Hillary won. The difference then was he wasn't in a position of power to do something about it. Now he's POTUS.
The Secret Service would be obligated to remove him from the position as he would no longer be the President and, therefore, no longer their primary concern -- and a threat to the current primary concern, the new President.
Oh the instant Trump's no longer president he's going to be on the first flight to Russia and he's not coming back
jim jordan (my rep) was an absolute disgrace for his behavior.
I'd be very concerned that Bernie would throw out his back trying to lift the 300 pound blob.
"Whatever, unlike you, I don't need to sit down to work." - Bernie as he hovers over the desk writing/signing papers Would the more prolific supporters of the 2A care? I would like to say that Republicans would finally say they've had enough if Trump refused to step down as President at the end of his term, but lately I can't be so certain anymore.
You're forgetting gun ownership among women and minorities has skyrocketed ever since Trump was elected. If it really did come to war, the minority of MAGA hat wearing gun nuts are going to easily be outnumbered.
