Greetings all,
Did a search for this. Must have searched wrong. Surely this is an old horse that has been beaten down to the hooves. Please point me in the correct direction if this is so.
100 HP for the living core of a base... seems... ridiculous comes to mind. Even in a proper enclosure it is the most vulnerable deployable I have encountered yet in my short time here.
Now before the pitchforks and torches come out, I am not talking about a huge free buff. Perhaps a scaling similar to the work benches, and possibly have crafting tied to the bench level available. Possibly 250 base HP for starter TC. Then add 250 frags and a T2 bench to make a "T2" TC that has 450 HP. 1K wood, 450 frags and 25 hi-qual, plus T3 bench could get you a "T3" TC with 800 HP.
The "reactor core" deserves proper shielding. Just enough to make it a chore to break in for the goodies. If a player wants to replace their T1 TC with a T3, then that is their option and expense. Would have to kill it and then put a new one up.
Cool visuals and skins come to mind as well for each level.
This could easily be abused, especially when it comes to griefing. I believe the TC system is completely fine, just build smart and then your TC is not a weak point
Armored triangle with reinforced glass window covered by metal embrasure, with a half-wall shelf against the window, behind an armored door loot room is my standard enclosure. In the center of the base surrounded by equal amounts of metal.
If someone wants in, they are coming in. This is a suggestion to make the last bit require more than a few incen shotgun rounds. I have little concern for griefers, as they get banned in any server I use. Couldn't pay me to go on a public server. Racism, sexism and personal verbal attacks are not how I spend my leisure time sir.
Griefing is just part of the game and rust's culture but I do understand that some 'noob friendly' servers may be against it
