Tesla is finally launching the long-promised standard Model 3 with a base price of $35,000 – fulfilling Elon Musk’s “secret masterplan” released back in 2006.
The automaker is now making several new versions of the Model 3 available with a shorter range and new interior options.
...
Customers are now able to order the $35,000 Model 3 with a standard interior and standard battery pack enabling 130mph top speed and 5.6s 0-60s acceleration.
Tesla is also making a new “Partial Premium Interior” with better seats than the standard interior available with a different “standard range plus” battery pack for a $2,000 premium
The Model 3 Standard Range Plus results in 240 miles of range, a top speed of 140mph, 0-60mph acceleration of just 5.3 seconds
...
Tesla says that deliveries are starting within the next 2 to 4 weeks depending on the configuration.

Where did you or anyone find this?
The page where I'm supposed to wait is still not showing jack shit. I'm just waiting for nothing, and they went and announced it elsewhere?
Just refresh the page / click order again.
Nope
http://puu.sh/CTdwj.png
What do you mean by "click order again"?
There was no announcement. It was just a place holder screen while they updated the Model 3 offerings.
Custom order on the Model 3 page. US site tends to update with these things faster.
Got to love over the air updates.
We’re also excited to announce that we’re implementing a number of firmware upgrades for both new and existing customers. These upgrades will increase the range of the Long Range Rear-Wheel Drive Model 3 to 325 miles, increase the top speed of Model 3 Performance to 162 mph, and add an average of approximately 5% peak power to all Model 3 vehicles.
$35,000 for manual cloth seats hoo boy
Meh, it's lighter and more utilitarian. This car is also quicker than performance sedans that are 20 grand more expensive.
No, $35,000 for a car.
Not a big fan of the "shove everything into the screen in the middle" idea.
I like having physical buttons to press so I can adjust climate control, volume, etc while driving. You can't really feel UI buttons on a screen yet.
Also, I like having all my information just a glance below. Having it off to the side seems like it'd be uncomfortable. Might just take getting used to though
Hezzy is now much closer to getting a Tesla.
The screen is positioned in such a way that it doesn't really make a difference to it's position being slightly different, it's still in your peripheral vision.
I mean, its the base cost reduced version. Most of that money goes into everything else that matters, not creature comforts.
Besides, some people prefer cloth manual seats. Less to break, and lets be real, cloth is more practical at the expense of luxury. There is a reason heated and cooled seats are usually mandatory on leather.
This sounds pretty bad, going off of the experiences I've heard around.
didn't they face a lot of legal trouble involving dealerships and stuff?
tesla is selling their own cars and im pretty sure dealerships got pissy and tried some legal shit on them. that might explain the change
I'd love to rag on about how much I hate that interior, but I have to be fair and say that isn't fair, because the 3series starts at $40.000, the cheapest Audi sedan, the A3, starts at $32.000 BUT is smaller, and the Merc C-Class starts at $41.000.
They DO offer leather seats or whatever it is close to leather, and I guess that sort of covers the seats.
Weirdly, there is no option for cloth?...
A couple of years from now it really is looking like getting a new electric vehicle will be affordable for most families especially when you consider no gasoline.
Unless they plan on building charging stations in every Hicktown, Nowhere, these will be limited to city use.
Most, and I would go out on a limb here and say probably all, homes have power.
I’ve been looking to get a new car when I move back to LA and I’m tempted to finance the $15,000 more than i was originally planning to spend. Especially since LA is pretty good about charging stations.
Does anyone knowledgeable about cars know how much it could potentially cost in Europe?
You charge at home. Charging stations are for long distance, and Tesla already has the US and Europe mostly covered. You can confidently get anywhere from anywhere in a Tesla, right now
How much does that cost? Would you need a garage with outlets?
You can charge it with any outlet, but when you buy one you get the option of installing a fast charger. I don't know how much the charger costs but your monthly bill shouldn't be much higher from what I've heard. You'll ultimately be spending less than you would on gas, all depending on your area and rates and how much you drive.

The interior probably is my main issue with the car. Seems very much form over function.
I want dials infront of me and buttons that I can press to do things. Doesn't need to look like a pilots cabin though.
