This is a long shot, and I fear this game doesn't exist anymore as it was some free game a guy made and uploaded to a site that hosted a lot of gamemaker games. I played this game like many years ago, like maybe even over 10-15 years ago. It was really interesting and unique. You played as a stick figure, or some kind of very simple looking character. The animation was rather fluid, especially for game maker at the time. The levels also looked rather simple and there was very little color, save for the blurry backgrounds. The gameplay was like a regular platformer how ever the levels themselves could be rotated or shifted around. I remember something about the plot was it taking place in an art gallery and you were like jumping from painting to painting I think. I could be wrong about that though. I made a quick mock up of what I recall the game looking like. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107265/f79a343e-79e2-4628-a04a-f52774a7e806/image.png
Sounds like Messhof's "punishment" Link I got from google
THIS IS EXACTLY IT!! Wow I have been looking for this on and off for years
there are game maker games, some that were only demos, from like 10-16 years ago i'd like to find but i dont remember enough about them to describe them. most of them i just remember a very catching visual style. it bothers me that people used to write off games made in game maker because of the volume of shit that came from the program.
I didn't search for anything besides the download link; I recalled at a glance. Your description and picture did their job very well.
