It's just the nature of SSR and how they've implemented it, sometimes it's not so bad, this isn't one of those times however.

For anyone wondering they're adding in a "conquest" capture point mode next month, which heavily involves capital ship takedowns. Many think it's going to be something of a "Titan mode" from 2142.

I honestly don't. I think it will be in phases, similar to the Death Star mode from BF1.
