The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said Sunday that he plans to request documents from more than 60 people and organizations connected to President Trump as part
of an inquiry that could eventually lead to his impeachment.
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) said on ABC News’s “This Week” that the targets include the president’s son Donald Trump Jr.; Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump
Organization; and the Justice Department.
The materials, the congressman said, would be used “to begin investigations to present the case to the American people about obstruction of justice, corruption and abuse of
power.”
Nadler said he has made no determination about whether to proceed with impeachment, but he said he has grown increasingly convinced that Trump has obstructed justice — an
offense that was included in the impeachment articles passed in the House against both Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton.
"The probe, he said, could eventually lead to impeachment."
His presidency ends next year.
Speed it the fuck up or shut the fuck up
Even if he's impeached on his last day before another takes office, it'll be a victory.
A shallow one, but a victory none the less.
Even if he's arrested for his crimes after he's left the white house, it would be a win.
I wonder how many cases will be brought against Trump once he's out of office, and how quickly they will be resolved. Just imagine if he got jail time within months after leaving office, just because he was no longer useful to anyone anymore. Would his base turn rabid or would they move on to follow the next loudest mouth?
I mean on the other hand, if this shitbird is kept from running for a second term, I'll still be brought to the brink of climax.
Trump has been amazing for Democrats electorally
Depends what Mike Pence will do.
I think his base wouldn't do anything if Pence immediately pardoned Trump for all accounts.
Exactly. He does not deserve the dignity of stepping down because he lost in 2020.
He can't pardon charges brought by the State of New York, though. Those are the ones that everyone is really looking forward to for this exact reason.
Many of the charges he will face when no longer sitting POTUS are state charges, which POTUS pardons cant touch.
Trump literally fired the head of the FBI in a blatant attempt to derail an investigation. I don't think it's possible to obstruct justice more than that.
This is the investigation that killed nixon
It doesn't have to end next year and that's the truly terrifying part.
If they put enough pressure on Trump i can imagine him eating hamberders until he dies of a heart attack.
I'm pretty sure Pence was smart enough to keep is hands clean, and even if not I doubt he would go down at the same time. If and when Trump gets impeached, it's unclear he would step down, and if he did we would get president Pence. The bright side is I am unsure whether he would then run for president in 2020 or if the republicans would run a new candidate. If Pence does run I can see him losing.
Depending on how damning the evidence is waiting until later in the presidency may be a strategic play to undermine Republican efforts in the upcoming election. Hate to see any investigation politicized, but the worse off the fascists are the better.
