that new egypt map looks fucking beautiful
damn, it's crazy to think that surf was the brainchild of one guy. every source game I've played has surf maps and they're pretty fun
surfing is an art form of its own with bhop, kz and so on. the amount of breathtaking maps and runs by skilled players is just massive
after playing surf for years this video is great to see. happy for the guy getting all the love he deserves and that new map looks stellar
For a lot of people, surf maps were just an excuse to use the game as a chatroom. They were great in developing communities. Probably why they were so popular. Oh and I remember when I first played Egypt. I think it was the first time I saw real porn as a spray on a wall. Thanks surf maps!
Oh man, back during 1.6 and Source practically all I played was surf and scoutknives. It was an absolute blast, good memories. It wasn't til CSGO that I actually started playing the real game.
I've played surf ever since 1.6. Back then, I was really young, but I played a lot of surf_egypt and one other who's name I forget. It's been interesting playing them in subsequent releases, like source and go, how the feel changes between them. Most of my playtime on all counterstrike releases has been on various surf servers, along with the many mods that some would have, like rpg mods or zombie mods.
New version of the map got released btw He released it during his stream, which I was on, and helped him host it on his server: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1672702362
I met some really good friends online and irl including my best friend to this day (he ended up only living 30 minutes away!) and had some of the best time I've ever had in a video game. Said friends practically ended up changing who I am and helped me a lot in different ways, all because I decided to stick around on some TF2 surf server. Bless this man
The fact that all of this shit got started by one dude discovering a glitch is fucking incredible, and cements itself as bunnyhopping's younger brother.
