TSSZ (source)
TSSZ can confirm the images below are the real deal, as they come from Hollywood marketing firm Hamagami Carroll. They are purported to be from a film style guide, and originally surfaced at the ResetEra forum
just minutes ago. We do not expect the original source to have the
images up for long (and indeed, the firm has taken down the page in
question), but here is the description provided with it:
You’d be hard-pressed to find anyone in the world who isn’t familiar with SEGA’s beloved IP, Sonic the Hedgehog.
But global reverence does come with a unique price. In creating a
licensing and packaging program to be used worldwide and to be applied
against targeting multiple audience demographics, it was necessary to
strike a balance between staying true to the Sonic brand, while
appealing to a global audience, and differentiating from previous Sonic
merchandise packaging.
The challenge of creating a global licensing and packaging program
targeted to multiple demographics came with several strategic
requirements: 1) signal a new modern take on the brand without
abandoning its core essence, 2) appeal to a worldwide audience and 3)
clearly differentiate from previous merchandising efforts.
Our approach was to create a system that was versatile and modular,
so that various Sonic IPs including Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, Film
Sonic, Animation Sonic, and other events could be integrated seamlessly
within the baseline packaging look.
Here we go with the blue arms.
it's worse than I imagined

If this leak is true, buy DeviantArt stock now. Here come a new generation of Sonic OCs that're even more ummmm than ever before
Showing the classic Sonic look standing right next to him doesn't help.
hahahahahaha they tried to cover up the separated eyes by making some of his quills white

Nearly identical to the test poster with Chris Pratt.
Can we kill it with fire?
My soul weeps.

it looks amateur as fuck, what the hell
I understand they've tried to draw the "quintessential anime side mouth"
But it's in a realistic style and it just looks like his fucking jaw only has a hole on the right.
Creepy as fuck.
Looks like shit but tbh I expected much worse.
There is no way this thing escaped harsh criticism from literally every person who saw it on the production.
Apparently another render was posted

Nike shoes, is this for real
I feel like if you could hook up a seven-year-old to a computer that rendered to screen what they were thinking of, and you told them to imagine themselves as an anime-ish Sonic the Hedgehog that's what you'd get.
This looks worse than people making parodies
The design has no socks? He's Sonic, having no socks would be uncomfortable as hell considering his most defining characteristic is that he runs fast.
...Unless we get some weird creepy feet reveal at the movie. Oh no...
no one:

Who thought this was a good idea?
lol they separated the eyes but kept the sidemouth
It looks like something out of Barney or Power Rangers.
mom says its my turn on the xbox
Micheal Jackson Gloves, Nike Shoes, yup that's basically always been Sonic.
why does he look like more of a nudist than regular Sonic despite neither design wearing clothes?
seriously he looks like he's ruining a football match
There's no way that's what the final product will look like.
Incredibly similar, sure. I have no doubt the Chris Pratt poster and other render are real.
But THAT is clearly a 2D mock-up of what the final product would look like, for internal purposes only.
If we see it on official products and advertisement, I would be incredibly surprised.
