Hi, I was wondering since Stone Fireplace is hardly ever used, maybe role players use it only. Could we make it heat the whole house or a floor it's in or a certain radius?
Right now if you build in snow area at night you basically only hug a campfire or something like this. Ofc we can use proper clothing for this but I still would like that these fireplaces could be used to heat the home so you can roam around your base without heavy clothing. What's your opinion on this guys?
I use it religiously.
It is for people who live in arctic biomes though, and most folks like their armor too much. Full armor is 0% cold resistance. I rock high 40's to mid 50's. A ridge runner's life is safer, but… different.
The fireplace delivers a large spherical area of both warmth and comfort, regardless of sockets, walls or ceilings. Proper placement can deliver comfort and heat to a large portion of a base, including the roof.
I tend to build larger bases and compounds, so staggering them in different areas and floors provides a large amount of heated space.
As a test, I used night, fog and windy in arctic biome... inside my base. Naked, outside the fireplace zone... -36 degrees. Naked, inside the zone, no negative environmental factors and 100% comfort if on a rug/chair as well. 75% for just the fireplace.
Both small and large boxes mesh deep into the sides of a fireplace as well. The "woodbox" goes right into the hearth.
I use what I call "immersive gameplay". Combines RP with best use of game mechanics and glitches in The Matrix. The upside-down bear rug on the ceiling for 100% comfort and healing is a good example.
I mean it gives 100% comfort so it's honestly more useful than a campfire if your group isn't shitting out low grade and cloth lol
It gives 75% comfort if you are alone with no rug or chair. Chair or a person in same tile brings it to 100%.
In my 2k hours I've placed it few times and that's all didin't really see it very useful. True the comfort but the way we play the game we don't use it when need healing use syrine and that's all. Light can be provided by electricity. Only thing I feel what's missing is heating the whole house somehow. Current radius is very small compared to our bases which would need maybe 100 of them to keep us warm.
