https://lawandcrime.com/high-profile/mystery-mueller-opponent-says-u-s-ignores-warning-of-foreign-policy-nightmare-if-case-moves-forward/ The ongoing legal struggle involving a grand jury subpoena believed to be from Special Counsel Robert Mueller‘s office to a foreign-owned company has been threatening to make its way to the U.S. Supreme Court, as both sides have knocked on SCOTUS’ door with arguments for why the case should or shouldn’t be heard by the nine justices. In a court filing on Tuesday, the home country of the company, referred to in court documents as “Country A,” claimed that the United States doesn’t have jurisdiction over other countries in criminal matters. They also said that the U.S. government, in their pursuit of this case, “strangely ignores” the specter of “reciprocal treatment” if the matter is allowed to move forward. “In its petition, Country A explained that if left undisturbed, the D.C. Circuit’s ruling will create a foreign-policy nightmare, guaranteeing reciprocal treatment for U.S. agencies and instrumentalities abroad,” the filing says. “The Government does not respond to those arguments.” By pursuing this matter, the government is apparently indicating that they either aren’t concerned with the precedent this case may set, or that being able to go after the mystery company in this case is more important than any issue that may arise down the road.
It's Russia btw
""""""""""""unknown""""""""""""
The fines for not complying with the subpoena are already over 2 million dollars, must be a real smocking gun they're hiding to be willing to pay that price.
If Oligarchs are involved, they'll laugh at the 2 million dollars and tell them 'no, please, keep going this is great propaganda for very cheap'.
The company is Rosneft
Watching Russia's money laundering get busted, the laundromat that was Nordea for the Russian's, going down really makes me feel good. Also, didn't Theresa May say, that they would start performing they're own black ops after the Skripal case?
So if their main argument is that the US doesn't have a say in international crimes, is that an admission to committing a crime?
nothing they haven't heavily implied before.
Not quite. Qatar / Qatari Investment Authority, which purchased 19.5% of Rosneft. So Russia/Rosneft were involved, but the "unknown country" is not Russia and the company isn't Rosneft per se.
that's so interesting, it's usually Russia that are so balls-to-the-walls with their "shut up no you" attitude. If it's qatar, that's real interesting
Probably Saudi Arabia related, likely having to do with the blackwater attempt to set up a backchannel.
