Tbh if you have access to a dutch oven or pan with lid, onion with salted butter is just amazing. Open the lid the last 3rd of the time so the moisture can go. could also foil wrap them with the butter, for you bbq lovers out there u toss them next to the coals iirc tempted to grab a group of shallots and do this
I'm chucking some of this together now, doing caramelized roasted carrots to go with it and as the comment section seems to be suggesting roasted garlic, I'll give that a try too. I typically only use it raw or in sauces. All in a regular oven.

Super cool channel I've always wanted to build my own earthen oven and try out the directions for beans in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckELeAo-Lzo Weirdly enough I found the channel first through their video lamenting the intrusion of politics in their YouTube comments. His frustration at wanting to just bring purely historical videos without modern connections made me want to check out the rest of the channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YIi1bjl_iqE
Yeah. I've been following the channel for a while now, around the first time one of his videos got posted here years ago. It's a very lovable and engaging channel and their videos are both really educational and comfy. It's really nice being able to learn history like this while being able to indulge in what they're doing and making too.
It’s pretty yummy! A bit of salt and a bit of butter. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/57985/a6cdca4e-d371-4fe7-b63b-0f6864c284c8/0A18A25D-54D4-417D-A4C0-CE6A2606369E.jpeg
