Frans Timmermans, the European commission’s first vice-president, said: “Europe is no longer experiencing the migration crisis we lived in 2015, but structural problems remain.”
While the trend is not new, the commission’s latest progress report on Wednesday suggested a tougher approach to public relations, as Brussels hit out against “myths” and “untruths”.
The robust language follows angry exchanges between Brussels and the Hungarian prime minister, Viktor Orbán, who has turned migration into an electoral issue.
It has been over for a few years, hasn't it?
Not exactly. It's still been an issue with Turkey holding most of them at the borders and using them as blackmail against the EU. Even in some regards, EU-member states have even threatened to use them. IIRC, Greece threatened to give everyone of them two hundred Euros if they were threatened with anymore economic stuff.
Considering that the Kurds have just finished mopping up in Syria, its very likely they and the Syrian government will soon turn their ire towards the last "FSA" holdouts in Idlib. Once that pops off, the migration crisis is gonna pick up again, because that campaign is gonna be pure slaughter.
Got any other suggestions on how to deal with Idlib? For some reason it seemed like Mosul was worth the offensive.
Idlib can only be dealt with militarily. Way to many foreign jihadis are occupying areas in the region, and they'd need to be root-canaled out of them. Another issue is that Turkey is directly involved in Idlib and catering for their an Al' Qaeda branch.
it's a clusterfuck.
