It's a Sony exclusive
Of course they are going to take their time.
It breathes through its skin.
I'm fine with Kojima taking his time because Konami rushed him on MGSV and he couldn't complete the game he wanted
Isn't this what Konami fired him for?
It's a story driven action adventure game where you play as an interdimensional delivery man.
MGSV honestly makes me mad. It had all the right ingredients to be an absolutely amazing game but I just couldn't be bothered finishing it because of the lack luster story that clearly wasn't finished.
This is why I have no excitement for it.
Give me some info on it and then I will decide to be excited or not.
The release windows I'd heard previously sounded really aggressive, so this doesn't come as a surprise to me. I take it as a good sign, that they want to make sure it's good.
according to Kojima it's just your average umm... social stranding game
10 years later
something something my wife is dead and yes man
Which, to be fair, was in part because Konami demanded the Fox engine be made into a general engine for all their games when it was originally meant to be a very specialised engine.
Where did this rumor come from because it doesnt really make that much sense and ive never seen it corroborated.
I think its also worth noting that during MGSV's dev cycle, Kojima and his team were working on another game at the same time in some capacity where he was also the director. (Zone of The Enders 3 near the beginning and middle, and Silent Hills near the middle and end i'd assume)
Its really hard for me to judge MGSV and that whole thing fairly because of how much of a complete fucking mess everything seemed behind the scenes with Konamis internal politics.
To be quite honest, as cool as this game looks, I have almost no faith in it. We've been shown almost no gameplay, and the gameplay we've seen has mostly just been walking in an empty world.
His track record is pretty much spotless in that regard, i think it'll most likely be fine, im more curious about the story and its weird scavenger hunt deciphering shit or whatever they keep talking about.
It'll play like MGSV. They've already shown some stealth stuff and the movement looks almost identical.
A rushed game is always bad
a delayed game is eventually good
He can take all the time he needs
Not gonna lie I started to lose faith when I realized how much money Kojima/Sony were pumping into popular actors.
Seems like the guy would just rather be directing a movie/tv series instead of a game, on top of being vague af about gameplay details aside from "it's an uncharted type action game" and people will be working together or something like that.
It's a procedural horror navigation story-based game with shooter and action elements which both increase the difficulty of the game if you use them.
i have complete faith in kojima. even if the plot isnt 100%, you can bet your ass the gameplay is going to be slick and fun
to the surprise of absolutely none of kojima's fans
Stealth horror game I suppose.
Ive always assumed with how fuckin lightning quick this game started development and had things ready to show very quickly afterwards that this game is an amalgamation of what Kojima was planning for Silent Hills, some unused MGSV elements, and miscellaneous ideas that he's had over the past 20 years that he couldnt do because he was doing Metal Gear.
I wouldnt be surprised if him and Shinkawa were already working on concepts and planning the game out during the last year of them being at Konami.
"It's better than nothing." - Might No. 9 Developer.
I'm not doubting Kojima's talent, but taking a while to make a game should be a concern, even if the end product is great.
When playing it you can really tell when things started to get half-assed and rushed. It was really disappointing and heartbreaking.
