Uh oh looks like E3 this year is gonna be a lot less eventful.
E3 go away forever pls.
Significantly less cringe and bullshit, that's fine.
Nah, I thinking this as more of coincidental, because of EA's has already its own economic troubles from last year to why they backing out, than E3.
It's literally always been about advertising though. That's the reason for it's existence.
Now let's get rid of Ubisoft's music performance, make Devolver's show last 5 whole days, and we'll have the best E3 ever.
We're skipping the press conference this year and are replacing it with multiple live streams that will air during the first two days of the event, bringing you more of what you've told us you want - more gameplay and insights from the teams making the games.
Excellent. Cutting the bullshit, making it about the games. I'm glad people are following Nintendo's lead with them just doing the livestreams for several hours, even if I'm not at all interested in EA's game library.
I mean it's been less entertaining, I guess. But w/e I guess it's also just my tastes changing as I age.
Sony and EA's 2018 conferences were both pretty bad but I didn't think they would just give up on them forever
It was... always adverts though? Every year? It's been adverts.
Like, the only real entertainment value from previous years was seeing how much a company could fuck up their conference.
Read the last line of the post you quoted. I know it's always been adverts, it's just less entertaining overall.
Of course they’re canceling. Remember damn near everything they showed off last year? It all ended up being rather lackluster. I think the indies were the only things anyone was genuinely interested in. Last year the EA conference courted more outrage and controversy than hype.
Wow, the only upcoming game listed on EA's website is that Sea of Solitude game from last year's E3. That's literally it

Coming Soon
I mean...
Isn't the point that games are announced for the first time at E3?
Why are you expecting E3 announcements to be on a website prior to E3?
Yaay. we won't have to watch the same three sports trailers over and over again.
I'm not even being "Ew sports", sports games can be a ton of fun, but as someone who has watched basically every E3... they're the same trailers. Over and over again. With the exact same dialogue, it's just what specific sport gets the big trailer changes every year. The same coach speech, the same "Updated career mode and x handling with a new physics system make it more realistic than ever before". Every fucking year.
On the one hand I don't want to see E3 die because it's a glorious shitshow. On the other hand EA was 80% shitty sports announcements (we made the ball 5% rounder!). Last year they spent fucking ages on Anthem and didn't show a fucking thing, probably because there's fuck all in the game.
Was it EA who had the show a few years ago where they had no games and just showed concept videos where some of them were just wireframes moving around?
Too bad, I kind of enjoy watching the shitshow that is E3. Never fails to be entertaining.
This is shaping up to just being the Microsoft and Nintendo show this year.
... I'm down.
The first details on Fallen Order are going to get shown off next month at Star Wars Celebration. I'd assume that would probably a trailer and a basic plot outline and then E3 would be showcasing more gameplay.
No idea what other brand new stuff they'd have for E3 aside from the usual sports games and maybe updates for Battlefield/Battlefront 2.
Given how those two have hooked up in one of those relationships where they are totally fucking but pretend they aren't even dating, yet they keep giving each other obvious looks and running off together, yeah. I'm fine with that.
If Nintendo's E3 is anything like 2016-2018, they will largely focus on one specific game and give minimal focus on other titles. They did this with Breath of the Wild for 2016, Odyssey for 2017, and Smash Ultimate for 2018.
So, for traditional E3, it'll probably just boil down to MS, and Ubisoft/SquEnix assuming they don't cancel.
MS/Xbox E3 events for the past couple years have been brilliant since they started going purely game related.
E3 itself is still a useful thing for gamers, IMO. Saying that, I am glad EA won't be attending.
What about Ubisoft?
Ah yeah, them and we've got that Devolver cliffhanger too. Are we getting shows for Square-Enix and PC?
physical press conferences are an obsolete concept
Honestly, I expected Bethesda to back out next, not EA.
Think about it. Bethesda doesn't really have anything to show. Showing content updates for FO76 is just going to make most instantly tune out or be upset, they themselves only really have Starfield to hint at (which is still a ways off). The only things we'd probably see are more of DOOM Eternal, more TESO content, and maybe a new game by Arkane? That's a whopping 3 things to talk about that people would be interested in.
EA, despite the current blunder with Anthem, would have a lot more to show than Bethesda.
Maybe they'll have a teaser for TES6 where they show one more backdrop
Why would u want E3 to go away. It's so fun to watch.
The Amalgamation of Evil isn't gonna show up then? Nice.
