https://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-md-tubman-twenty-20190306-story.html It’s still not clear whose face will be on the $20 bill in 2020. Last month, a bipartisan pair of lawmakers, Elijah Cummings, a Baltimore Democrat, and John Katko, a New York Republican, reintroduced legislation to require the Treasury Department to put abolitionist Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. Tubman would replace President Andrew Jackson's portrait. If approved, Tubman would be the first African-American pictured on the face of U.S. currency. Asked Wednesday whether the Treasury Department would be putting Harriet Tubman’s face on the bill by 2020, a spokeswoman referred to comments made by Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin at the Washington Economic Club in January 2018, in which he said, “We haven’t made any decisions.” In 2016, the Obama administration announced a redesign of the $20 bill that included an image of Tubman, the Dorchester County native who ferried dozens of slaves to freedom. President Trump has repeatedly praised Jackson, who was president from 1829 to 1837. Jackson, Trump said last year, "had a history of tremendous success for the country" and "represented somebody really that was very important to this country."

Andrew Jackson was an awful president and should never have been memorialized on our currency, fight me.
He hated paper currency. The Tubman design still puts him on the back tho
No one here wants to fight you. Besides some idiots, the general consensus is that Jackson is an infamously shite president, even besides the whole Native American Genocide thing.
I would be down to clown with this, but the fact that (correct me if I'm wrong) that republicans are the one promoting this move, makes me think it's only to appeal to the black votes. Like I'm cool with Tubman being on the $20, she deserves more actually, but I can't but see this as power(?) move.
I had no idea he even was until this thread, being British. It is kinda hilarious but also sad, a bit like a blind toddler on a minefield is.

weird a white supremacist gets into office and then the 20$ with a black woman on it gets derailed...
I honestly thought it was already passed?
Imagine Trump losing in 2016, he learns how to shoot guns and gets addicted to opium and wins in 2020
The next presidential election will be a duel. It is an opportunity to see how two extremely old men can get over their infirm status in order to murder their political opponent.
He looks so sad lol
Put Trump on the penny because they're basically worthless
Keep in mind that this guy was considered a war hero because he defeated British troops in a battle that took place after the War of 1812 was over.
Put Trump on the penny, then abolish immediately.
I dunno I kinda like that Americas biggest screwup (sorry grant) is on the most commonly used dollar bill. I like that it reminds us of our societies failures and how far we've come from his era.
Put Trump on the $3 bill. Watch conservative's heads explode.
That's illegal, thankfully. No living person may be put on currency.
odds are that his diet will take care of that sooner or later
Hopefully his cult of personality dies with him.
I avidly await the day we put FDR or Teddy on our currency. True American heroes Interesting thought: If this bill is passed, we'll be able to tell our grandchildren that we remember a time when Jackson was on the bill. interesting

ok i dont use currency that small often enough to notice this man
Ridiculous that Andrew Jackson will still be on the new 20. He should be replaced with a better president. Also they should use an image of Harriet Tubman where she looks less deeply concerned. Make a commemorative 30 cent coin with William Henry Harrison on it.
I mean, I'd be deeply concerned if Andrew Jackson was right behind me. Especially if I was a black woman
