I love this community and I want to give back to this community I've known for the last ten years. So I thought it'll be neat to help each other out, no matter where we are on this planet, we're all facepunchers.
So here it is, a work or job exchange space. If you got any talents or skill, share it here, and I'll shoot it out to anyone I know. If it helps you in any way, I'm happy either way!
And if you like a new experience or relocate, I could help you out! Well I'll do my best!
Peace out!
This is admirable, but I can't imagine FP is quite a big enough network to really be able to help very many people.
Honestly while you might be right on a grand scale I've seen so many people on FP get amazing opportunities literally from no where because of connections on this site. From becoming game devs all the way to making official trailers for game companies. This is a really good idea in my book. Lots of talented like minded people on facepunch and it's hard as hell to find good employees.
Yea, and I just want to help each other out!
I'd like to get a career in something with machine learning and took a few classes in my undergrad in deep learning, but I have no idea what jobs those skills are actually applicable for, data analysis? Number crunching? Document categorization? I wanna go back and get my masters once I've had a job for a bit and made some money, but a lot of the explicit AI jobs out there seem to require masters degrees or PHD's.
DAE machine learn for a living and can offer advice?
is this for like paid work or
Yes paid work only. If you need something I'll ask around!
oh cool.
I do graphic design. here is my blog or portfolio or whatever
We actually helped Fnox (aka Bing Bang) escape Venezuela just as it's economy really started to collapse and hyper inflation began to take hold ( quickly making is life savings virtually worthless). FPers REALLY stepped up to to partially help him pay for a flight and living expenses, and help him with living advice in Sweden, as he was able to immigrate to Sweden, a Swedish FPers actually showed up at his new residence with household goods and local cuisine to get him started as well as a help him.
FP makes magic
I'm currently a freelance video editor and worked with various e-commerce companies and advertising firms in the past 4 years. Right now I'm one of the dedicated editors for a YouTube family vlog channel, but I'm always open to doing more projects whether full-time, part-time or one-time gigs, so would be nice to get new opportunities.
I'm looking for something IT. Have advanced support/repair skills and experience in Windows Server, Linux, AD, MySQL and is currently learning web skills.
Am willing to move I don't have much tying me down.
Have any tips to get into the editing videos for money world? I've found that out of my hobbies I enjoy editing videos probably the most. Would love any tips to get into that. Was thinking about starting a little video editing business and making business cards and the like.
Farcry here imo, but are there are any Maltese or Austrian users here that work for companies that can sponsor a visa?
Sorry for the late response.
My method had been directly applying towards clients or searching for job postings for either one-time projects or longer-term contracts. What I can suggest though for in general especially when you want to get known is to build a portfolio or showreel of your best clips and keep it handily available to demo towards people. Volunteer with creative collaborations and build a small network. Once you got happy clients and fellow collaborators happy with your work, it's a great way for people to actually message you directly instead of you having to seek them out.
Don't be afraid to do challenging editing tasks as well, at worst it'll be a learning experience if you aren't able to fulfill the criteria fully, and at best might be your way towards a sizable leap in getting work done and your business growing. Great way to even broaden your skills with stuff like audio and image editing depending on tasks.
One other thing, if you know even a small company or individual that may need some sort of help in media, feel free to message them directly. Chances are they would be more than happy to pay for a dedicated editor, especially with a lot of people reliant on visual materials on social media.
And to avoid burnout, remember to keep doing stuff you find enjoyable. Burnout can actually set in rather quickly when you're freelancing/self-employed so I like to balance out business projects with just personal things, both with editing and outside that.
