Hah, the perfect way to reduce crime, there's no reason to steal when there's nothing to steal! Genius! /s This is horrible, though. Pardon my lack of knowledge here, but is this entire situation one of those cases where all their eggs were put into one not-entirely-stable basket, or no?
Don't worry, there are a handful of tankies who will argue this legitimately as a reason why Maduro should stay. Although they totally aren't defending Maduro.
even worse its no longer makes economic sense to murder someone for their wallet, bullets cost money after all.
Unless the bullets were stolen. Because they're criminals
Gonna wager a guess that stealing from people who own bullets is a much worse idea than stealing from people who don't own bullets.
Hm, I didn't think that one out
Never thought I would hear about a case like this. Now, with the recent blackout that lasted up to 30 hours, there may have been some robberies or worse crimes. What a shitfest.
Pssh, please. My tankie friend will openly argue this is a reason as to why Maduro should stay in power - and will proudly state to be defending Maduro. Which just reminds me of the few times I actually post on Facebook to counter his bullshit and bring up a bunch of information and reports and stuff countering his tankie discourse. Every time, two things happen: all of our lefty friends we have in common agree with my posts (his posts rarely ever get any notes whatsoever, whereas my counters tend to get a half dozen or so, which basically exhausts our lefty friends circle ), and he mysteriously never responds to argue his points. Instead, he just goes and makes new ones a few days later.
Ha, that's super common. Basically a reason I stopped arguing with people on social media period - no one ever engages in an argument. Why bother when it's easy to deflect or ignore.

"You see", Your friend begins while adjusting his glasses "Maduro is the perfect leader, he has created a system no other communist or socialist government has achieved before: Perfectly equality!. No longer does Venezuela have the 'haves' and 'have nots', now everyone is equally cripplingly impoverished! He can do no wrong. Atleast until the media shows the people suffering, at which point it's evil Western propaganda and everything is Americans fault (even though I secretly know they actually have nothing to do with it for once) for keeping Venezuela down and sabotaging Maduros efforts to make the country a socialist Utopia!"
That is already happening one or two years ago. so for my South American FPs it also explains why the increase of crimes in their countries, on the part of Venezuelans. which as a Venezuelan, it gives me shame (as that now all Venezuelans are delinquents and scum thanks by those guys) Ironically, even being a venezuelan delinquent is no longer viable. Yeah, that dreams like a stupid joke. because literally, there's nothing viable to steal anymore. And with the devalued economy, what the hell are you going to steal and from one day to the next it's worth nothing ? even some have already ordered (the Pranes, aka, the Criminal bosses winch that's hard to explain, ever to me) to stop stealing from people on the street and dedicate themselves to something else (food, kidnappings but on US $$$$) because literally, "dude, everybody's broke, everybody's fighting for food. Do you really want to make his life much worse?" a lot of us don't have the latest model phones or anything luxurious worth stealing and for a thief to steal someone for what, a broken phone ? or very simple and old ? sVenezuelan money that aren't worth anything anymore? broken and old shoes ? they prefer to let them go (or kill it on depend of case) the same with the houses. and those who have money, or are well protected by bodyguards.are government officials or have "heavy friends" in the government or in the national guard who can immediately send orde of death squads to either kill you or your entire family mercilessly, or torture you in the most unimaginable and inhumane ways possible non-stop until the guy that you fucked decides where I live, the bands that were in the area disappeared, just like where my grandmother lives. same with bus robbers (we have some left but before was too much worse) And many criminals have gone to other countries to steal because ever to for them, life is worthless in venezuela even to steal is not worth it. that at the same time has caused an epidemic of crimes by those criminals who have left many honest Venezuelans who went in search of a good future with the doors closed and between being branded as complete criminals

This is, perhaps unsurprisingly, not far from the truth. A stereotypical thug culture phrase is “no me veas la cara que las balas están caras”, don’t look at my face; bullets have gotten expensive. I’ve heard that thugs themselves are emigrating, which, I mean that’s a way of making Caracas not the murder capital of the world, by just leaving it barren.
