https://www.statnews.com/2019/03/07/nightmarish-tale-tetanus-unvaccinated-child/ How do anti-vaxers get out of bed in the morning being so fucking mentally retarded
I wish it counted as child abuse for not vaccinating your kids. We lived in a world where certain diseases were nearly eradicated due to vaccination and countless lives were saved. Then this anti-vaccination mentality and conspiracy took root and now we have an alarming amount of cases of disease in children. There is something mind blowing stupid, like so fucking stupid that it makes my head want to split into two pieces about anti-vac people. How fucking stupid can you be, to sit there and not get your kid vaccinated when you reaped the benefits from such treatment. Anti-vac is anti-humanity and anti-science. $800,000 — his parents refused to allow the hospital to give him a full course of vaccines to protect him against tetanus. Nor would they allow doctors to vaccinate their son against measles, mumps, rubella, chickenpox, polio, and a range of other diseases that are dangerous for and can be lethal to young children, despite the fact the team spent a great deal of time trying to persuade them of their benefits. Imagine being so fucking dumb that you cannot listen to a team of doctors who combined have more education and knowledge then your stupid sorry ass does. Not only could you have prevented your kids suffering, but you could have also saved yourself a million dollars worth of debt if you just utilized vaccinations. God damn this shit makes me so angry.
Literally child abuse.
The boy did survive. But after a weeks-long, gut-wrenching medical marathon — which cost well over $800,000 — his parents refused to allow the hospital to give him a full course of vaccines to protect him against tetanus. I feel awful for that kid
"But vaccines cause autism!" - Says the parent who's probably more autistic. We should all blame that "Vaccines cause autism" conspiracy that recently took root and gave rise to Anti-Vax movement.
Can we not use Autistic as a stand-in word for stupid?
Oh, right. Just because a man is autistic doesn't mean he is stupid. Should've known better, especially when I am the example of "Brilliant, but Autistic".
Who calls you brilliant?
These parents should not be allowed to keep their children
Yeah, Tetanus is a fucking horrifying disease. It used to cause muscle spasms so severe it could break bones. Tetanus toxin literally destroys nerve endings in skeletal muscle by fixing them into a permanent "on" states. Treatment includes a 3.5-4k calorie diet (Extra 1-1.5k calories a day) and 150g of protein (3x time daily intake) over 3 to 4 weeks. The sheer amount of extra protein and calories needed should give you an idea on how damaging tetanus can be. It's also really fucking frustrating that the taxpayer had to foot a $800,000 bill because of this idiocy. Honestly, the should be liable for every bloody penny of that money. It's not even my tax dollars and i'm miffed about it.
Healthcare not covering things based on preventability can be too vulnerable to abuse by greedy insurance companies
I guess I'm lucky to be alive considering I wasn't given Tetanus shots as a kid (anti-vax parents) and was given a 'homeopathic Tetanus remedy' when I was cut by a rusty nail playing in a rural area. Surely being America taxpayers aren't footing the bill but rather the parents and presumably insurance companies?
Honestly, if you refuse to have your own kid(s) vaccinated that would potentially save their lives, you don't deserve to be a parent.
The worst part about antivax is that those suffering are the ones who did nothing wrong. If you're a conscious adult that somehow made it to adulthood without drowning yourself in your own toilet, it's your choice to potentially suffer the consequences of ignorance. Kids however, should never be suffering as a direct result of their parents idiocy.
Doctors should have free rain to do whatever needs to be done, regardless of beliefs.
The road to hell is paved in good intent, the road to heaven is paved with good works. The lord provided us with brilliant minds that were able to bring about these wonderful creations that ended so much suffering that humanity had felt over it's existence, and now we shun those creations because of some crap shouted by a fool. I don't even know what to think anymore.
I will never understand how people prefer the iron lung over autism, and that's assuming vaccines = autism, which is a completely wrong assumption
The boy did survive. But after a weeks-long, gut-wrenching medical marathon — which cost well over $800,000 — his parents refused to allow the hospital to give him a full course of vaccines to protect him against tetanus. Sounds like grounds for CPS to have him taken away.
If having your child near death and spending 800k for medical bills doesn't convince you to vaccinate nothing will. This shit needs to be illegal
I feel that this thread is a good one to post this in: https://imgur.com/gallery/ps4zNGc
$800k is a serious amount of money, I highly doubt these people, or anyone for that matter, actually have the money to pay that off, even if they worked for the rest of their lives. If they do have insurance it's a bit more interesting. Personally I think that your should pay a lot more on your insurance premium if you're antivax, same kind of thing we do with smokers, overweight and obese people, drug users etc.
In cases like this I fully believe the parents should just automatically lose custody of the child. And get sterilized, because their stupidity is easily confused with them being sick and twisted sadists who wish their child the worst. Maybe it sounds stupidly severe, but god damn it it's child abuse plain and simple, this shit has to be stopped.
How has this happened? How has anti-vaccination become such a wide-spread issue? We've had vaccines for centuries, why has one idiot managed to damage all that progress?
Social media
Told buddy at work about this, thinking hell yea there is no way he can defend his values now. Dude still stands by it going on about nonsense like how tetanus isn't dangerous or deadly and that the vaccine does nothing because you get tetanus and you get another injection again because the vaccine doesn't work. I'm entirely convinced it is impossible to change the minds of anti-vaxxers. I just kept yelling at him "first case of tetanus in 30 years was an unvaccinated child!". He cared not for facts...
I subscribe to this theory as well, that we haven't had a major epidemic in so long that whole generations have grown up without the fear of deadly, crippling disease, and rather than look back at history to see how fortunate they are, they just assume things have always been this way or the nasty diseases just mysteriously vanished one day thanks to soap or something. One thing that really fucking irks me with pro-disease folks is like, what do they think wiped out Smallpox? Antibiotics? Soap? Mackerel oil & healing stones? It's just another branch of the anti-intelligence movement.
"He cared not for facts." You've hit the nail on the head. Anti-vaxxers don't care about the facts, they're willing to let people die because of some nonsense they read on a mommy blog who obviously knows more about medicine than those stupid male doctors because she knows the pain of childbirth and they don't so how could they know what's best for her kids. They've never been seriously ill with any of the diseases that can be cured with the vaccine, so they have an "out of sight, out of mind" view toward the people who do get sick either because they are in an anti-vax household or they were exposed to someone who deliberately wasn't vaccinated. They're like flat earthers, it doesn't matter how much evidence you show them because any evidence is clearly fabricated by Big Pharma and fake since their friend's 85 year old grandpa got the flu vaccine once and it literally killed him. The doctor listed the cause of death as pneumonia, but that's because he's paid off by Big Pharma and knew listing the true cause would result in a revolution.
At least flat Earthers can be debunked by the simple fact that every other planet in our solar system has been observed to be spherical. Then again I guess it isn't so simple with how there are still flat Earthers...
Flat earthers don't murder children. I really don't give a shit about their beliefs, as they don't affect anyone else. They can be as literally retarded as they want.
They contribute to the anti-science mindset. It's dangerous.
