Except I'm pretty sure in commie Poland for failing to show up at most you'd get yelled at. In North Korea it's a very real possibility that you end up in a GULAG/Nazi death camp.

This is literally what a voting booth in the DPRK looks like btw
there's a lot of fishermen in north korea and they're basically worked to death using the crudest imaginable equipment and they're often in deep ocean waters without any navagation or communication equipment or even enough supplies
