• Satisfactory Alpha Gameplay

There's an alpha test weekend out with the NDA released, so here's a little preview of what's going on with the game. https://youtu.be/yPDsZnxZzow
I was excited for this until it went ebin store exclusive.
I mean, there's a difference between this and metro, I'm not over the moon that it's on epic but I don't think it's a massively bad thing.
That's a very nice looking game, Surprised to see it come from the makers of goat simulator
Compared to Factorio, the verticality it offers allows for some interesting (and confusing) factory designs. Sadly the early game and manual crafting is shit.
I'd buy into this but i'm willing to wait a couple of years to a very satisfying complete experience like subnautica, the forest and even 7 days to die surprisingly enough. Both games which were honestly a mess in development but after coming back after years to a completed game felt very satisfying in general.
Yeah, looks interesting, but I'll probably wait for it to be finished, also not a fan of store exclusivity.
Aww man, this went epic store exclusive?
You're ignoring that epic is doing this for the majority of their exclusives, prime example being ashen/rogue galaxy 2. Both were announced and shown off in steam, then bought out exclusivity on epic.
That's what really pisses me off about it. I wouldn't care if it started as an Epic exclusive. It's using Steam for free advertising and trying to poach users who became interested in the game via Steam.
Wasn't aware it was originally on steam. I take back my comment
Oh i dont know if this was originally on steam, i was talking about a lot of other indie devs on steam hopping to epic due to epic throwing cash at them.
There's something I find really visually offputting about the game, I think it's how contrasty the image is? Some areas in shadow are like 100% black, needs more ambient light
The steam store page isnt up anymore but the Steam Community page with pissed off people is.
It was originally on Steam, it's page was removed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obZqJVSMbkc
Don't manipulate platforms into advertising your product for free knowing you won't be selling it through that platform. That's called "being unbelievably fucking bad at business" How To Burn Bridges With An Industry: The Conclusive Tutorial
Yeah I even got an alpha key for this and was put in a good mood, then I saw the key is for Epic Launcher and well, my good mood dissipated quite quickly.

Yeah, I was really disappointed when I tried it out. Doesn't help that belts, and belt compatible miners are way further in the tech tree than they should. Plus recepies get needlessly complex real quick for simple stuff like power poles which really slows down progression flow, that and having to sit there at a bench and click the mouse a bunch of times to craft components. I really want Satisfactory to do well but it just seems flawed in it's core design that I don't think will change by 1.0. It's like I had 10 seconds to explain to a group of indie devs WHY I enjoy Factorio so much and they kinda just built a game out of it.
No hand crafting seems like a big fumble, there's good reason factorio handles it the way it does.
You know the best thing about this, Factorio exists and has pretty much done everything perfectly, they could've easily just copied that and put it in Three Dimensions, but nope, couldn't take a perfect example of a game done correctly and use that to make their own.
Well it's not that it's a bad thing that Satisfactory does things differently it's just that it doesn't do any of those things very well. I'd rather Satisfactory be more than just a 3D Factorio clone as much as I love Factorio. But Satisfactory DEFINITELY had lessons learned it could have gleaned off Factorio's design that make the experience better, but chose not to. That and recursive crafting (automatically crafting a recipe from it's base components up)
its a pretty big let down any ways
They made Sanctum too
I've enjoyed what's available in the alpha so far - there are indeed some teething problems (craft on hand, true automation being a bit too gated, etc) but what's there is a good base. I wasn't expecting literal Factorio depth, and what there is currently definitely isn't.
God this is such a ridiculously useful addition, THE Quality of Life addition.
Wait, hold on. So this is early access. On a platform which has no reviews. Are you fucking joking?
No, it goes on early access on the 19th, it just had a free alpha weekend for people who originally applied for alpha keys.
I'll take it if you don't want it
Been watching a few of my favorite youtubers play this and it looks really, really good. Hard to believe the people who previously only made goat simulator made this.
