Good video, although I feel like he went on a bit of a tangent in the middle.
Something I miss about Source mapping is creating 3D skyboxes. Modern engines don't need them since they are powerful enough to render all of that geometry, but there was something special about creating a miniature version of your map. It was a pain in the ass to implement and it was mostly smoke and mirrors, but that's what I loved about it. My favorite is probably No Mercy's skybox. There is so much detail with the huge mountains and sprawling city.
