Its not a plugin problem, tested this as a vanilla. But this oil rig update is playing havoc with my servers CPU usage. It's a 200 server & has reached 120+ without it breaking 60% usage on average. But, since this update, an empty server pushing 188% usage & flickering between that & its average. Contacted my server hosts & there's no conflict in the setup or command lines. This is a rust problem!
or your "provider" has oversold the resources......
you tell us nothing about the server... what do you want, what are you hoping to accomplish?
My provider hasn't oversold. I've been using them for many years for other games & the reviews I've seen of them have always been 4 stars minimum. My server CPU usage before the oil rig update wasn't an issue. Nothings changed other than the update & its not spiking. I've also tested this out on a machine I normally use for testing plugins & so on. A i5 2400 & 8GB DDR3 on a SSD. I run the exact same setup/plugins & set the server for 0/0 players so no one can join. This was pre oil rig update. The CPU usage averages out at 43% with spikes no more than 66%. I copied the exact folder to a new directory, ran the server again & the results we're the same. So, I then updated the 1 server with latest oxide. Ran the serve again, same setup, just up to date. The CPU usage is an average 77% & spikes to 100%.
Now, I'm a software/hardware engineer. From my 19 yrs experience of developing software, including games for Infogrames Entertainment. I put the cause of this on the update. I've tested this many times. I have server setups going back 9 updates back. Because I like to see the progression of how the game progresses in terms of performance on server side of things. And this update, yes made life easier for the client side. But it's reduced performance on the server side.
