For those that only read the headline this if of note:
Children up to the age of six years will be excluded from nursery and kindergarten without proof of vaccination under the new rules. Those aged between six and 16 cannot be banned from attending school, but their parents face fines if they do not complete the mandatory course of immunisations.
I'm curious how this would go over in Sweden if we got a resurgence of measles and other diseases.
I'm definitely in favour of this policy, but I think we should also be tackling the source not just the symptoms of the problem. I'd like to better understand why people end up anti-vaxxers and flat earthers. People aren't just inherently stupid, this obviously stems from some kind of alienation and is driven by some sort of propaganda model taking advantage of mistrust in expertise and authority. You mentioned Facebook, and yeah, the way the internet spreads misinformation, and then customises your reality to suit your worldview no matter how warped, definitely plays into it.
I just feel like long term we should also stop people becoming anti-vaxxers, rather than punish existing ones. I have no reason to believe that on current course this trend will die down.

I can't remember the last time I heard about Italy doing something smart.
In this case, social workers should figure out why the kids are being homeschooled, and find out if the have their vaccines up to date aswell.
This is a double loss for the kids. Not only you don't get vaccinated against potential hazards, you also get a shitty education.
