You may know them as the house of Halo and Destiny, but Bungie's got one hell of a backlog. After some rumblings here and there, I decided a thread might be in order.

I tried to vidmaster marathon 1. Tapped out at level 2. How the fuck does anyone do this
Well, since we're going back into Bungie's youth, how about a link dump to get you started on retracing Bungie's steps (All 6/7 of 'em):
The official Marathon trilogy: http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/
Aleph One: The Marathon Trilogy: https://alephone.lhowon.org/
The Marathon Music Remade (by Craig Hardgrove) http://www.themarathonmusic.com/

Not much more this youngling can recover, but he can advise you that the PC Gaming Wiki is your friend.
Pathways into Darkness is playable via Classic Macintosh Emulation, or from the modern MacOS app store.
simplici7y.com is also going to be your home for Marathon mods.
If you have any questions about stuff let me know, I've been playing these games for a while. Add me on Steam or @ me on Discord (Facepunch Halo or Facepunch Classic FPS).
Here's a track by Masahiro Andoh for the japanese release Gran Turismo. Some of you might get a kick out of the samples used.

Halo 2 was supposed to be the last Halo game by Bungie.
If H2 had been completed according to plan, they would've gone back to making games of all genres, I believe Myth III was in development under the codename "Pheonix"
Oh, they way I heard it Jones was on Phoenix.
@chipsnapper , going back and looking through old stuff, it seems like Phoenix was a fantasy game, or series of concepts, that a small team of Bungie kept working on through the development of the Halo series. It seems like from the article you posted that development stopped and stalled on it several times, but it is what eventually evolved into Destiny.
There's actually a mod for Aleph One that recreates Pathways Into Darkness. The controls are kinda wank, since PID was meant to be played with the keyboard for movement and the mouse for controlling the UI but it works well enough if you can't be arsed to set up Classic Mac emulation.
Also thanks to an FOV script and the keen wisdom that vertical mouse sensitivity is calculated as 1/4 of the horizontal and editing the preferences files in AppData/Local/AlephOne accordingly, I managed to get all the Marathon games running in a way that actually makes them enjoyable for me.
It's still weird because the game can't turn you as finely, jumping by like 2° is the slightest movement the engine can make, but it's within tolerable parameters.
