Is there any Modelling programs that control similarly to Hammer? (With side views, grids, the sort.)
My end goal is to make a car model based off of this:

Turn it into a prop in GMOD, and then preferably have it converted to simfphys. (Not me, I have no idea how to even start.)
Like, all the ones I've tried provide 2d viewports like hammer
Use blender, it allows you to do it and is free
I've tried blender and have minimal experience with it.
Is there a grid I can snap everything to?
you can toggle grid overlays, and it has vertex manipulation tools too, which you can enable snapping on.
If you plan on occasionally doing minor model work, I'd argue learning the basics of blender is worth it.
I haven't model for source for the past like 8 years, though I'm sure there are people still maintaining plugins to export the models to .mdl
Much appreciated, thanks.
Yes most 3d Modelling software is fundamentally identical to hammer.
In practice, methodology, and workflow they're also quite different, much more flexible and powerful than Hammer is.
They will all have the ability to snap to a grid and work off of orthographic views.
I hear GMAX is a good free version of 3DS MAX. And I could also use the experience to make Halo maps.
GMax is really obsolete though
Like, 2005 obsolete
You're better off using Blender for the actual modeling part, especially for Source since it has a fully featured import-export plugin for .smd files
I can't for the life of me figure out how to use it.
I'm seriously considering using J.A.C.K map editor for the modelling part and just importing it into blender.
Hammer 2 (from the dota 2 sdk) actually exports fbx like a normal modelling program. And directly manages meshes.
It might be what you want, but I do recommend learning to use Blender, it's free and nice. (Use the Maya mode for blender if you don't like the controls.)
There's a lot of beginner tutorial for Blender on Youtube, and you should look up a "cheat sheet" for the various keyboard shortcuts too
Will help a lot
Enable Blender's Pie Menus addon and remember to use Ctrl to enable fast snapping. Yes it has a learning curve but it's a really worthwhile time investment IMO.
