Hello, I was recently playing GMod and I noticed three things:
When I use an explosive, the explode effect is blocky
The gm_construct ambiance doesn't play
The addon SCP: CB SNPC's sound doesn't play, when I spawn a NPC, its silent and no sound plays
NOTES:
For the first one, I tried deleting addons that enhance the explosion effect and deleted every trace of said addon and it did not help
I made sure that for the last two, my sound was not on mute

that literally a bunch of tiny explosion .jpgs bunched together to make some bad explosion effect. its not blocky. Its just really bad of an addon
Once again, this is related to the author of that addon, not a thing to report on the forums
It happens with a bunch of addons, including the base Half Life 2 weapons
Addons can overwrite the textures used by the base game, this is definitely an addon changing it.
Have you actually tried disabling all of your addons and checking or searching for an addon that adds "hd retextured explosions" or something like that?
I have deleted all my addons that enhance or replace the textures with "hd models" but i havent actually turned every addon off, i will try it tommorow, and hope it works
In hindsight, you should've disabled or uninstalled all your addons that you've gotten from the workshop, and those you have as legacy addons (folders which are stored in your addons folder) to see if it made any difference to your game. That way there would be a much less likely chance of you making this thread as it could go away for you once you figure out it's an addon that's causing your problems.
Most of the time these sorts of problems come from conflicting addons or perhaps addons on their own depending on what you have downloaded and when you installed the addon(s) in question, hopefully by having a completely addon-free Garry's Mod it should fix your texture, particle and sound problems.

I have deleted all my addons (and deleted the addon files in the GMOD folder) but I still have this problem with the RPG (but the explosion effect is fine)
sounds like you need to do a pure clean reinstall of gmod. Delete the whole folder, uninstall gmod, install it. No addons, nothing. Try then. If you still have blocky textures the next problem could be your windows, or hardware. And that would be fun...
I have done a reinstall of GMOD and it has fixed the weird boxes and gm_constructs ambiance is back but i want to install addons but I am worried if it screws the game up again.
if you instal lthe addons and then theres errors coming up you then know what it is. But not installing any addons anymore..i mena..if you want. Have fun with default gmod
