Fortunately most alerts about active shooters on university campuses tend to be false alarms or unrelated. Doesn't mean to let your guard down, but it's usually not that bad. About once a month my university would send an alert out to shelter in place though most weren't even something happening but instead just someone reporting a bang from something breaking, students fucking around, or anything else. The few times it was legitimately because of something happening, they were people who had committed a crime near or on campus and were fleeing.

i go to umich and it was a wild ride, rumors were spreading really quick and everyone on campus was on edge. srat girls popping balloons in a school building and screaming in the wake of a mass shooting comes across as insensitive and I'm annoyed they would be that loud in the first place.
thank goodness its a false alarm, with it being a weekend st. patrick's day every campus in this country is an insane place to be at right now.
2 of my 4 years in college had active riots because of it.
