Former Vice President Joe Biden hinted at a 2020 presidential campaign, telling an audience that he views himself to be the most progressive of any Democrat running or
considering a run for the presidency.
At a speech in Delaware to members of the state Democratic Party, Biden argued that criticism from members of the "New Left," a term used to define progressives who align with
principle espoused by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) during his 2016 presidential campaign, was unfounded.
"I'm told I get criticized by the 'New Left,' " Biden told the audience. "I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the ... anybody who would run." His remarks were
punctuated by a standing ovation by Democrats in the room who celebrated Biden's apparent slip up suggesting a presidential run, before the former vice president moved on to aim
criticism at President Trump.
Biden has been considering a 2020 bid for months, and has told reporters since late last year that he was gauging how a run for the presidency would affect his family.
Jesus he's already losing my support
Say it ain't so, Uncle Joe!~
...no, seriously, you're probably the most centrist motherfucker on the Ballot that stands any chance of actually winning.
Biden Doesn't Want to Hear Millennials Complain
that's gonna be a no from me joe
Did he forget he's a Democrat and not a Republican or...?
I liked Biden, he could easily just preserve his legacy by just retiring, but if he does decide to keep going down this path he could easily help turn people away from the DNC.
"I'm told I get criticized by the 'New Left,' " Biden told the audience "I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the ... anybody who would run."
This is a legitimately Trump-esque statement.
Bull fucking shit.
ahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
Hes joking right? A lot of his voting is "where the wind is blowing".
It's pretty funny how so many older folk don't realise millennials aren't children anymore. The eldest of us are nearing 40 and the youngest are in their mid-twenties. Not exactly a small demographic they're writing off as whiners.
He has supported plenty of progressive causes in the past but I think it's quite obvious that he doesn't match up to someone like Sanders if you measure them side by side. As a fan of Biden it sucks to see him say something so brazenly falsifiable like this.
If Biden runs, he'll have enough support from the pre-existing Democrats to win the primary and we'll almost certainly see a second term of Trump.
this coming from the guy who gave strom thurmond's eulogy lol
The only slip up here is that he believes the ancient concept of democratic socialism looks youngest against the backdrop of leftism in name only, and the old crumbling world the dnc's misguided progressivism has helped build.
Can't wait for president Groper Cleveland.
But seriously, yeah, I predict another Trump win for sure if he's the one who gets the nomination.
Holy shit he sounds just like Clinton did
Please dont win the primary, please, it'll be Clinton 2.0
So what exactly is he suppose to say?
"Oh well I guess I've been shitty compared to others. Vote for me though !?!?"
thats not how elections work. they are running in the democratic primary. if one the losers of the primary keep running as an independent or another party, sure, it could split the vote.
I think all that will really separate Biden from Clinton is that Clinton already had "skeletons in the closet" as you might say from already being first lady in the past. There was already a lot of stuff the right could smear Clinton on before she even ran. I didn't look to far into it but all they can really use against Biden is that he was vice president to Obama. But knowing how the right works I'm sure they will end up finding any little something and making it bigger then it needs to be. Regardless, another centralist is not who we need right now. I don't know what the democrats are thinking trying to compete against themselves with a whole bunch of candidates but that shit didn't work in 2016. You need to get your act together and agree on a small amount of candidates to prevent a huge separation of the democratic vote.
Biden does have a fair amount of baggage, to be honest. It might not be as bad as Hillary's, but it's not much better.
Personally, I would vote for Biden over Bernie. But I'm sure I am a minority in that.
I worry about the New Left being far too combative. Ocasio-Cortez voted against the House bill to reopen the government because it would fund ICE iirc, despite the fact that it would reemploy the thousands of other federal workers that was going to cripple our economy.
Hilldog 2.0, activate alienation protocols

Career politician = disconnected from reality outside of DC
He's old. He doesn't understand what its like to be young in the modern world. I want younger people (30's - 40's) in political office.
There are much better alternatives already running in the Dem. primaries
I personally think he's fucking creepy around children
He is from Delaware and lives there. While a senator, he commuted every day to DC instead of living there.
Bernie Sanders is out, I guess then.
What?
Burn the witch!
But in all seriousness, I think the left needs to be more combative than they're used to because the traditional tactics of respect are not paying dividends AT ALL.
Joe Biden's spent the last year telling millennials that they're pussies who need to suck it up and he's been praising Republicans and helping them get elected. He's a terrible candidate and he's going to tank in this primary, just like the last couple times he ran for president.
Biden has been a senator since 1973 until he became VP. Political service shouldn't be a full career option, it needs to be a temporary or part time job as community/service involvement while you do your actual job. The longer you spend as part of the political class, the more younger people you rob of the opportunity to serve their own communities.
I would rather have Yang than Bernie, but Bernie is a better alternative to Trump. 2016 election every major candidate was an old fuck which was disappointing.
I'm not going into conspiracies but as @Dan The Man said he is creepy around kids. Very hands-on during photo shoots and everything about his body language rubs me the wrong way around kids.
The particular bill wasn't going to fucking pass anyway. There was nothing wrong with Ocasio-Cortez using the vote as an opportunity to make her message clear regarding ICE.
So you'd rather choose limp dick "centrists" who keep compromising with the insane GOP and who'll push the overton window even further to the right?
Huh. From what I've seen of US politics I can't fathom how a sane voter would ever ask for "more of the same".
By "split the vote" I mean "look at all the results from the Republican primary that didn't want Trump".
When you have this many candidates, it's hard for a given candidate to gain momentum compared to how the vote is split in the primary. That's how Trump won the primary, and if a less-than-ideal Democrat wins this next primary as a result, then we're likely looking at another Trump presidency.
