https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/434654-poll-38-percent-blame-ocasio-cortez-for-new-york-losing-amazon-hq-deal?amp Almost 40 percent of New York voters believe Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-N.Y.) bears responsibility as a "villain" in Amazon's decision to back out of its plan to put a second headquarters in Queens, according to a new poll.
Multi-billion dollar megacorps have a terrifyingly positive public image
People can't tell the difference between trickling down and a golden shower.
It was only a few years ago we here were gobbling on Google's cock.
There's still a shit load of people on Facepunch who have too much Google dick in their mouth preventing oxygen from reaching their brains for long enough to realize that Google is in fact a garbage company that doesn't give two shits about people. People still praise Amazon far too often as well. I've seen far too many people excuse them treating their employees like shit just because they provide quick deliveries.
What is with everyone’s obsession with this person? I hear her name more often than the name of the Prime Minister of my own country.
GOP obsess over anyone that isn't them because they're seen as a threat that could cost them elections or voting base, so they do their level best to discredit them by any means possible
oh the hill has been on a right bent tear lately. The only voters she needs approval from is her district's voters and they resoundingly did not want amazon there.
the hate thirst is real
A competent politician that isn't afraid to stand up for what they truly believe in (and for once, their belief isn't 'profits first, people last') is hard to come by, especially in capital cesspits, so she's rather newsworthy. Of course, bucking a trend is typically regarded as a good thing, but there'll always be people that refuse to let go of the anchor that keeps them grounded in their outdated views.
We need more cyberpunk.
She's a progressive woman and looking at a picture of her doesn't make you momentarily fear that someone's linked you a picture of a wrinkled ballsack, unlike the case with most politicians in this country. Hence, conservatives are terrified of her. Hence they plaster her name everywhere in a hilarious misguided attempt to smear her. Apparently they didn't learn from the Trump election cycle; she doesn't even have to do anything except show up to keep her name in the news.
I see anti- AOC shit posted all over the place, near constantly, I see more posts about AOC than I do any other politician, and yet I've still yet to see any substantial criticism of her from the right. All of it, literally every single post or meme, is just "God this little girl is so fucking stupid and dumb, she's just the dumbest motherfucker ever so stupid, I bet her IQ is in the negative figures!!!" and when you ask why they think this, they either say "she's a fucking communist!" or just reiterate how stupid they think she is without providing any kind of reason.
Because "as long as I get my same day delivery, I don't care"
My grandma thinks she's an idiot because of how she's handled certain interview questions. She refused to specify which questions, or what her answers were.
she's more left-leaning than 99.9% of politicians in the country which means nearly everyone to the right of her wants her dead
This is almost exactly what I always see "she's an airhead, her ideas are ridiculous" with absolutely no evidence or specification.
Americans have been browbeaten to view anyone who promises jobs as a messiah. Amazon simply dangles their economic power over the heads of the country to see which state sucks them off with the most tax breaks. We shouldn’t live under such a mafia-like corporatocracy.
Wow, truly shocking. State where roughly 35-40% of voters voted Republican in 2018 features roughly same amount of people who would link the word 'villain' to AOC in literally any context.
She's young and she's a women and smart/charasmatic enough to be president one day, the GOP doesn't like that. Funny enough I wouldn't even know who she was that much if the GOP propaganda machine didn't endlessly attack her.
Source? I haven't seen any polls by district
um I'm saying a broad poll of new york doesn't reflect her actual electability, she's a congresswoman not a senator, she has only the voters of her district which seem very supportive of her still to appease. All these "oh she's unpopular see this new poll!" things are constructed to make her look like she's failing out of congress but don't really mean anything given that she doesn't hold a national or state wide office.
