...WHY?! What the hell would compel someone to do this?!
Well, you do remember that story about the dude injecting his own spunk don't you?
That just raises further questions!
Given that China has a big market for 'traditional medicine' and practices like acupuncture, it wouldn't surprise me if she was recommended to do this by some quack, or she just figured you could do this with any substance to get it into the bloodstream and gain the benefit quicker.
I'd feel bad for her but instead I'm just left baffled as to why anyone would ever think injecting random things would ever actually be a good thing.
Should have tried BBQ sauce instead.
There's a fad catching on where people drink their own urine, so this is tame by comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sGNo0FJaYo
I'd atribute the fault on the government making people crazy with all the social bulshit going on, but people do crazy shit no matter what from time to time.
Not really, I'm pretty that injecting any type of fluid into your bloodstream is always worse than drinking it.
That's basically always true in the sense that bypassing the epidermis and digestive tract is a surefire way to fuck you up physically, but it's more the idea that somebody would consume urine that irks me. Like, at least fruit juice isn't something that makes me wretch, even if injecting it is definitely worse for you than drinking urine.
china has massively propped up hokey and superstitious medicines for decades to try and convince people that chinese invented everything first. stuff like Vaccines are not new or invented by the west, the ancient chinese acupuncture was vaccination! or basically giving homeopathy and traditional chinese medicine equal footing as 'western' medicine
Eh, IDK, the though of injecting inappropriate foreign fluids into my veins makes me physically cringe, and I'm not a benelophobe by any stretch. I'd rather drink urine TBH, yeah it's disgusting but at least it's sterile and it's much easier to evacuate ingested liquid.
Urine isn't actually sterile, but that's not what makes drinking it bad. It's the toxins like urea that makes me kinda grossed out! I would also rather drink urine than inject myself with fruit juice, but I am just talking about how one is definitely more psychologically weird to me than the other.
I mean, if you think about it, injecting anything into your veins is psychologically weird. We're not naturally built to do it, and we only accept it because we're used to it and it's done in a controlled environment by people who know what they're doing (heck, a lot of people remain extremely adverse to it regardless). Whereas drinking urine might be necessary in a situation of extreme survival, so I'm sure humans have done it way before needles were even invented. So yeah, it might be culturally weirder to drink urine, but instinctively, in a neutral environment? I'm not so sure.
