Please be better than season 2
Looks exciting. Wasn't really too excited about more Stranger Things (was still probably gonna watch it, though), but this looks like maybe they've kicked it up a notch.
Looks like they're dialling up the 80s nostalgia to Ready Player One levels. It probably can't be any worse than season 2 so I'll remain cautiously optimistic.
Stranger Things Season 10 Official Trailer Cut to the kids and they're like 25 and Eleven is 33 and they're having WACKY adventures all over town in the 90s
It feels like they took the praise they got for handling 80's nostalgia well and just ran with it, and now it's heavy-handed like everything it was so much better than. Part of me wants to play devils advocate and say, "It's probably just how the trailer is cut" but there's one thing stopping me from that. The music. There's just so much licensed music in this trailer when this show is known if for its killer original soundtrack. It feels like it cashed in its own memes and is just making what the audience is asking for. Fine, I guess, but this isn't what made season 1 so good to so many people.
Season 2 was a bit of a letdown to me. Still pretty good and entertainable imo, but not comparable to the first season. I hope it's better than the second one, since I'll still watch it, but imo a third season seems a bit unnecessary to me.
iirc they had ideas for four or five seasons from the beginning, with the show ending after that i think they might be able to pull it off, i enjoyed season 2 about as much as the first and i think there's still a lot left to explore with the series i have my doubts they'd be able to do five seasons without losing the spark that the first season (and some of the second) had - though i haven't been let down yet, and season 3 looks pretty alright judging from this trailer! but ultimately, time will tell, really
finally we'll see coconut head not be possessed or just fucking gone like the first two seasons lol
Just a heads up. Reason why s2 was such a let down was because they didn't have as much time in the writers room and had to work on the fly as netflix only gave them until october to finish s2 S3 on the other hand has had a much longer time to bake in the oven both in filming and writing. Getting some serious S1 vibes from the trailer and that is a good thing. Plus they've gone back to just 8 episodes instead of 9 so the story is probably gonna be more tightly packed in this season. I'll be back later for my full thoughts but man that trailer was great.
Ayy, that shot of the monster growing looked a lot like the shot from The Thing where the head grows spider legs.Taking inspiration from the right places once again.
So is Stranger Things a show about kids who see strange things?
Maybe the kids were the Stranger Things all along
this is a show where stranger things have, indeed, happened
The Stranger Things were inside of all along (At least Billy, from the looks of it).
brett gelman sucks ass. no idea how he got on the show.
My main problem with S2 was the X-Men episode which I feel just made Hawkins feel less important, because apparently there are other super kids out there and Eleven isn't so special after all
Honestly, other than the fucking awful 7th episode, I really appreciated season 2
Good news for you, the writer and director who did that episode did not return for s3 and they are staying in hawkins for most of the season from what i've heard.
It was such a spin-off-bait episode. "Hey, look at all this stuff that isn't part of this show! Wouldn't you like to see more of this?" No, actually, nobody cared about them. There is certainly room for more interesting stuff elsewhere in the Stranger Things world, but don't just throw random crap at us and hope it sticks.
Good, that episode genuinely kills the flow of the entire season, and pacing wise and also pacing wise is a bizarre event that seems to take place during several hours that just... can't happen. Like it legit happens during a pivotal moment and almost no time passes.
Are you saying that episode 7 was supposed to be entirely chronologically between 6 and 8? Because if my memory serves it skipped back in time a bit to explain what happened to El after episode 4 and ended in the present.
Carried this over from the official thread (here's the link : Stranger Things) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/114636/f5003587-f2bf-44b6-9d2f-c7958509cc00/Capture.PNG Real subtle duffers, reeaal subtle Can't believe trump stole his campaign from a mayor in the 1980's
Looks good, kinda disappointed we got a shot of the/a monster so clearly though. But those kids have gotten old good lord.
