Late bud
Well that lacked any real information, the page on their website lacks information aswell, there's no real mention of the resolution besides, "Higher resolution" I want some numbers please, not just, "It higher resolution"
i imagine vr sales are reaching their market cap gotta re-hype it right
It's 1440p 80hz from what others are saying.
https://www.pcgamer.com/oculus-launching-higher-res-rift-s-headset-with-new-inside-out-tracking-for-dollar400-this-spring/ Stats are inside the Rift S uses a 2560x1440 display, aka 1280x1440 per eye, compared to the original Rift's 1080x1200 per eye
Apparently it uses LCD display instead of LED. I'm not an expert but is LCD kinda old-fashioned?
I think VR trailers need to use more green screen footage as a way to more accurately show what the big deal with VR actually is. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qYfNzhLXYGc You're not going to convince people to get a headset by just showing footage from graphically inferior games captured at a low framerate.
Cool beenz, cheers. Nothing huge but still, not a bad increase, will it be worth replacing my current Rift though? I don't know about that but we'll see.
I bought an Oculus rift less than a month ago after people saying "the second gen won't be out for a while" Ouch :v
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vtryRHVg_I Well, there were bound to be people covering the subject.
Doubtful. I was thinking about it because I've had hell in terms of USB bandwidth issues with my three sensors, but I can't justify blowing another £400 for an incremental upgrade. I will say the new passthrough camera is absolutely essential to VR (Especially in light of roomscale being a major reason to use VR) and it's a wonder it's taken this long to be implemented. I was tempted to get a Leap Motion just to accomplish it on my CV1. It's not really Gen 2, they're pitching it as an incremental upgrade. Besides, Rift S does have some downsides (Inferior sound, and they're saying tracking is glitchy when you move the controllers close to your face - like the Windows Mixed Reality headsets).
Unless it's relatively cheap? I doubt it. This seems more like the Vive Pro to the Vive then any kind of serious upgrade. Wait until Oculus releases Oculus Fist controllers or whatever to compete with the knuckles instead
I remember having issues like this, it's what caused me to return my first Rift, then I bought another because there was something I wanted to try out and that ended up working aswell. The issue though, it kept switching off my USB ports, it even switched everything off at one point forcing a hard restart of my computer, it was quite annoying.
Back then, I decided to buy a HMD when Gen1 is improved, but after reading the comments here I'm not sure if I should wait for Gen2.
