• Problem with Rust switching GPUs mid-game?
    1 replies, posted
While playing Rust on my gaming laptop i've been getting terrible FPS drops from my standard 80ish to under 10. This happens about every 2 or 3 mins and last for around 15 secs making the game basically unplayable. I've tabbed over to task manager during these drops and noticed Rust will be running on GPU 1 (Nvidia) when the game is running smooth, but when I get the FPS drops it will be running on GPU 0 (Dedicated Intel HD card). I've gone into all the Nvidia settings and have Rust set to only use the Nvidia card. I've checked temps on the Nvidia GPU and it has never hit 80 C. Pretty much have done every other thing I can think of or have read about. Does anyone know why it would switch GPUs mid-game and how I can fix this?
Disable Optimus, on some computers the switch is in BIOS. It extends battery by not running the big GPU when not needed but generally sucks at doing that.
