• What Kind of Rust Do You Play?

Greetings all, I am wondering about the distribution of different types of players. What type of server you may prefer. Straight vanilla? Vanilla with admin tweaks/no mods? Slightly modded? Full-on easy-mode mods? Do you prefer high-intensity PvP? Low-pop hermit servers with a PvE focus(murderers/zombies/etc)? Are you a builder that likes no decay/no upkeep? Do you prefer active admins who enforce rules, or the freedom to do or say whatever? What wipe schedule do you prefer? Weekly? Bi-weekly? Monthly? The two-file replacement wipe-less(haven't tried it yet)? While only on my 5th wipe, I am leaning towards lower population, low-intensity servers. Still learning the mechanics and such, so not a huge fan of getting perma-ganked by teams of experienced players. Monthly for now, but will try "workaround wipe-less" next month, now that a friend and I have a server. It is the EVE vet in me that prefers more continuity in my sandbox I suppose. Getting to be more of a fan of RCON tweaked vanilla, with weekly increases in numbers of murderers and scarecrows. A 30-per-square kilometer setting keeps day-tripping snow-ballers at bay near the end of a wipe. hehehe Prefer a smaller steady community of repeat players to a high-pop high-turnover server. Just curious, and thought it may start a productive conversation amidst all the issue threads. The community here should represent a decent cross-section of Rust at large, other than the pure hackers and wankers, who wouldn't be welcome anyway. Thanks for your attention.
I run a 3 month wipe server. Improved stacks, gathering & so forth. BP manager, giving you only x runs per bp before you need to research it again. Heli license & many other cool plugins specifically designed for the server. Its proving quite popular. I can't stand vanilla's. There's never any admins on & they ban you for a bug with the game that gives a false trigger of cheating. Like if you span a gap in the wall of a base with 2 ladders. As soon as you hop onto the 2nd ladder, it kicks you for flyhacking. And vanilla's issue bans for such things. Even if you get the mini heli stuck on top of a base & you try to wriggle it free. You know, how 1 wheel seems to fall inside a wall/floor for no reason. Same thing, same outcome. Also, I find vanilla's a full time job. It takes far to much time just to achieve anything & when you finally get a foothold in the game. A group come raid you & that's it. You might as well just find another server. As you'll not recover before they wipe. I've found a method that allows me to save map data for up to 3 months. Longest I've managed was 5 months, but then bugs started to appear in the game. So, 3 months was the longest bug free. And people seem to like it. Currently a 50 slot server, but as soon as I sort out the VIP system so people can contribute to the server upkeep, for access to some cool plugins currently on trial, like licences, autocodelocks, CCTV & Elevators. I'll then up it too 100, but so far, I have a regular 60+ player count that come on at different times of the day
I play on my own private server, usually completely alone, sometimes with a friend. I like to explore custom maps and build shit. Hunting in the sunset is one of my favorite pastimes.
I am a solo player and i just play vanilla. I hate modded servers. It doesn't matter for me admins are active or not. I hate low pop servers. When the population die i quit the server what i playing on. Usually i play on offical server and i am a solo
I loooove the Bi-weekly wipes, but can't for the life of me play it anywhere, even the official servers that advertise Bi-weekly actually LIE and wipe Bi-monthly. Bi-weekly is awesome, you get a new wipe every 3 days or so (2 times a week). #fuk-language
My first wipe was on what I called a "Mountain Man" server. 100 player limit, and I was alone 99% of the time. Invisible admin that never showed, played or spoke... that I now realize(with my own admin tools) was watching me and adjusting things as I played to make it more fun for me. The ridiculous number of airdrops one grid or so away. Almost every hack crate was at Train Yard right near my base. sloppy but matching camo skins in crate and barrel clothes, that are not available in the steam store. Best way to spend one's 1st wipe. Angel on your shoulder.
I got a giggle thinking about a non-Rust player coming here and reading this...
I am a Solo player, I enjoy the grind for tools gear and useful supplies, I like my own space much like real life! I cannot stand when people I team with throw a burlap shirt in my Ammo chest. Or My Resource loot box has 5 starter rocks that some idiot thought was useful, I am very particular on my loot box set up, as i am in creating my bases to be AIDs to raid! I don't like big wide open rooms, I like scheming placing things in a half wall putting a bench over it that can be accessed by turning the bench or making hidden loot stashes. I prefer a couple tps, maybe some bots or zombies to increases resistance or chance of dying, I like maybe x2-x3 and god damn it if you don't increase stack size!!!!! Nothing worse then finding a great server and running around only to find out I have 7 stacks of wood stacked to 1000 ~ disconnect! I like guns and explosive hard to get, I like strategic raiding, over people just having to much explosives just wiping out everyone in the server, that just creates an empty server.
Depends how I feel. Always solo, and always vanilla, but I'll flip flop between good community servers for regular gameplay and a PVE one if I just want to chill, build and chat. All depends how much time I think I'm going to have during the month.
I love playing vannila up to 5x servers and when i dont have time i do no bps i love the struggle of vanilla but if i dint have time i play 5x/3x its different every time but i find the most fun in 2x servers
I usually find a nicely populated Vanilla Community server to play on. These servers have admins you can find on their discord if you ever need anything and normally do not have zergs on them. You are able to get a nice balance of farming and PvP. I have played on rustafied servers before with big clans but this gameplay is very different from what I am used to and requires your 24 hours attention. The pvp on these servers is also very different as you are either going to run into no one or a 20 man zerg
