Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that it is "possible" that President Trump is meant to save the Jewish people.
He made the comments during an interview in Jerusalem with the Christian Broadcasting Network.
"As a Christian I certainly believe that's possible," Pompeo responded when asked whether Trump is a new Esther, who in the Bible convinced the king of Persia not to slaughter the Jewish people.
The CBN interview falls on Purim, a Jewish holiday that marks Esther's story.
The CBN hosts in questioning Pompeo referred to Iran as the modern-day threat to the Jewish people. Trump last year withdrew the U.S. from the Iranian nuclear treaty and reimposed sanctions on the country.

what the hell am I reading
A Christian declaring that TRUMP is meant to SAVE the Jewish people? The secretary of state of all people? What happened to separation of church and state?
Its part of a crackpot prophecy created by Evangelists who believe the End Times will happen if they put all the jews in Israel.
who's going to save us from idiotic chucklefucks like you? this sounds like a parody of metal gear solid meets monty python
I'm way past sick of these people.
If a government official invokes their religion as the reason for their decisions or for the decisions/consequences of their party, those decisions should be considered void and they should be removed from office in an attempt to find someone competent.
Someone put some brakes on this unholy personality cult train.
Please.
It's just as "possible" that God is dead and Satan got Trump elected to destroy America
Ah yes. Trump. The savior of the Jews. The man who just so happens to also be leading the growth of the white nationalist nazi movement. But lets ignore that.
Haven't you heard? Work will set them free, you'll see!
There is no god or satan.
Only Azathoth. This insanity is just the mind of the Blind Idiot God.
Did god send Hitler, too?
lmao comparing trump to queen esther. Queen Esther was forced to be queen by the King after he killed his own queen. When the king was paid off by his evil advisor Haman to issue a decree allowing all the jews in the empire to be killed, Queen Esther and the entire Jewish community of Persia ripped their clothes and fasted for 3 days just to approach the king to invite him to a feast because if she approached him without permission, normally she would have gotten the death penalty.
The comparison implies that Trump is the Aytollah's bitchboi who is in fear of his master and only manages to achieve his goals through his contacts who do the intrigue for him and tell him what to do next.
Also, why are they bringing up God when the Book of Esther is the only book in the Jewish canon to never mention god?
Americans are not kidding when they say our Evangelicals are fucking nuts compared to any others in the world.
It's just Nyarlathotep dicking around. Azathoth doesn't have a mental capacity to think of something like this.
Exactly.
This insanity is just his mind, for there is no thinking needed for it. Only a Deep and endless slumber will suffice
you have no idea what you are talking about
Please, do tell how hes wrong.
Trump is more the result of white nationalism rising than being the cause of rising white nationalist sentiment
actual white nationalist support for trump dropped like a rock once he started supporting israel
he's much more your run-of-the-mill racist boomer conservative than a white nationalist, and if there's a clear difference between the two it's that the former loves israel and the latter decidedly does not.
I seriously don't understand why so many people have to be asked to elaborate instead of just posting this information in the first place. Nobody is going to take you seriously if you just pop up and go "no, you're wrong!" without explaining why they're wrong.
Anything is possible by God, yes, but to say it that you know for certain, especially when it comes to declaring a savior like that invalidates your faith.
I mean it's always good to take an agnostic view on questions of God's will, isn't it? I couldn't say that it's 100% impossible that God sent Trump to save the Jewish people. After all, God could be very very stupid.
In the Christian faith, it's told that after Christ came, there would be no more prophets.
If Trump were a "savior of the Jewish People", that would make him a Prophet. Cannot be a faithful Christian and believe that.
Besides, if there were to be a "savior of the Jewish People" would that person not be Jewish?
Evangelicals in the US for some reason or another view Jews as "almost Christians" when that's just plainly not the case, especially compared to the more bizarre protestant sects that have zero in common with ancient Christianity that derived from the Jews or modern Judaism.
I wish I could say that were the case, but honestly, in this age of misinformation, that isn't true anymore. "No, you're wrong" is not only accepted in this day and age - it's the expected and lauded form of debate.
Places like Facepunch are an aberration in the larger scheme of the world now. Our emphasis on facts and evidence and good-faith arguments are anomalous - the rest of the world sees these ideas as foreign and bizarre. We might as well be muttering moonspeak to them.
In the modern discourse, arguing is expected to take the form of witty zingers, snappy one-liners, unsubstantiated hot takes, and posting entirely based on emotion. Your argument's merit isn't judged based on its evidence - here, outrage is king. Whichever take gets the most blood boiling, the most tweets tweeting, the most Likes clicked, and the most clicks generated, is the argument that is most correct.
I've seen it spill over onto these own forums in the past few months. Relatively new posters who quite literally roll their eyes and state, in utter and complete seriousness, "I don't understand your boner for sources."
Revel in this place, my friends. This last bastion of respecting truth and knowledge, in an ever-waning defense that simply cannot hold the line against the deluge of "feels before reals." Soon, in most communities spanning the world, digital and physical alike, asking for sources will be a bannable offense, under the pretense of "trolling" or "flaming" or "ad hominem" - how dare you even entertain the notion that a person's claim may be unsubstantiated; such a claim is slanderous and insulting to their character.
I fear that soon, not even we will be able to maintain this anachronism of ages past, this bizarre notion of arguing based on fact and logic. Soon, we, too, will drown in the incoherent babble that has become the modern social sphere. And we will shrivel up and die, cold and alone in the darkness left behind when truth left us for one last time.
Any argument for the Christian-ness of Mike Pompeo falls apart upon examination of the man's life. He just believes in magic spirits that he calls the same name as some other people who also think things about magic spirits.
This guy's face looks shopped.
