• Joystick-control implementation for the Minicopter

Hello Community! I really like the Minicopter in Rust. It opens up a whole variety of strategies to use. Unfortunately the support for joysticks/flightsticks is not implemented yet. As a passionated chopper-pilot I see this as a big stepback then it comes to the evolution a videogaming. So I kindly ask the Facepunch-developers here to implement this asap. Also I want to hear the communities opinion on this subject. So let me know your what you think everybody! greetz Flitzi
such a bold idea, i like it
Is it not possible yet to assign the chopper to a controller? If you start the game there is an option like that I think
Ohh, your right. I tried out my flightstick and it does actually not accept the inputs at all. They should fix that. Flying with controllers is pure fun. But I think many people see this different, as most cant fly with Joystick, only with mouse. Anyway; the minicopter is kinda new to the game, and I bet they will implement that soon, so you will have these in control-settings. Would be nice if the developers say something about that/when it will come on their roadmap. Rusti
Yes ! Please facepunch support my X56 HOTAS, my whole gameplay is based on minicopters since they're out!
I would highly appreciate that, if there would be JOYstick-settings. To be honest it seems like Facepunch did not much efford in improving the controls. For example many of my friends have to program crouch-toggle themselfes, because these settings are missing also. Sigma
If this is the official Facepunch forum maybe a developer should react here, or atleast move this thread in the correct subforum, so a ticket is opened for this. Im also interested in flightcontrol/better control-settings. +1
So as I can see Im not alone with this wish Does anybody know how this could be forwarded to the developers, so that they could make a statement if and when this is planned?
I had the same idea before and tried some software which a allows you to map your mouse and keyboard to different joysticks which work EXTREMELY well with the Minicopter.
Can you tell me which software you use? I tried out "JoyToKey", but you cant set deadzones for all different axis, and also there are some restrictions, that render this useless. So the only really clean solution will be, that it is simply implemented, that everybody could set it in ingame controls Flitzi
I found the open-source program "AntiMicro", which is devevolped for games with poor/none controller-support. But the inputlag is aweful. Not playable that way. So I think the only chance is to wait for facepunch to implement it
I highly doubt something like joystick implementation will be done. Flying the minicopter isnt too hard and you can easily learn if you do something such as host your own server, an easy to follow tutorial to do such a thing can be found here
Ohh, thats not my point. Actually Im really good with mouse, it's not that hard. My point here is: It is calles JOYstick for one reason. It's pure fun. Everybody that flight choppers for a time like that knows that. So joystick implementation is there already, you could configure it then starting the game. But it is really proprietary for now. You could assign the x/-axis. But no throttle, ruders now
Diffrent mouse sensitivity bar for the minicopter please
@DoctorAI Could you please provide us with the name of the program that you used? Posting in a forum that you find a solution that is working "EXTREMELY well", but then not telling others the sulotion is kinda rude. No front, but you see that others are also interested in this, so why do you not posting the name? I tryed "JoyToKey", but it works like s***t. I agree this should be implemented. For sure it is no must-have-feature. But it is a huge improvement in the fun-factor for those that are into this. Also if youre good with joystick you could get much better finemotoric movements with joystick, alone because of the throttle you could go more than "full throttle" of "break fully". +1
You can get mice with DPI clutches and DPI buttons. Just bind them properly and that works well
dpi clutches have a spesific dpi but if you want that sweet spot for the heli controll you need a bar for that
Also there is no point to try to convince people to use dpi-buttons, then they want to fly with joystick. With the same argument you can say "use a gamepad instead", or "use an eyetracking-device" Then it comes to fly air-vehicles with joystick it is about the ergonomic feeling, about realism/simulation. Also you have alot of other nice side effects (better finetuning/consistence with good joysticks, ability to make air maneuvers that you already learned from other games, etc). Please let us not make a religion about that. If people like to fly with sticks let them do, if you are a joystick-hater, or simply think "that's something you dont need" that's ok also. Dont try to convince each other, that has no sense. Im also interested in the name of the program DoctorAI posted. If you still follow this thread, please post the name.
