How do I replace rust Linux with rust windows? I got Steam Play working using Proton for other games, example War Thunder. And it is working nicely. Not sure about War Thunder is using VulKan graphics. I have uninstalled Rust via Steam and installed it, not sure if that is the same. I have pretty much gave up on enhancements for Rust Linux and Rust Linux updates. this is from the Rust output log file. System     Name: bobbox25     OS:   Linux 4.20 Fedora 28 64bit CPU     Model:  AMD FX(tm)-8320 Eight-Core Processor     Cores:  8     Memory: 16019 MB GPU     Model:  GeForce GTX 650     API:    Vulkan 1.1.95 [0x688ac000]     Memory: 1024 MB     SM:     50 Process     Memory:   0 MB Mono     Collects: 16     Memory:   5 MB
Rust is broken on Linux right now, and you will not get it working in Proton. Don't bother trying. If you want to play Rust at the moment, native Windows is your only option.
Unfortunately, you don't, really. The gotcha is EasyAntiCheat, that part im pretty sure does not work in Proton. If you insist on trying, or playing on a EAC-disabled server, you can open the properties for the game in steam, and select 'Force the use of a specific Steam Play compatibility tool'.. This will override the native build and have steam DL the windows build and setup the game to run in Proton.
