Nobody was hurt, and members of the Islamic Center of Escondido were able to extinguish the small blaze before firefighters around 3:15 a.m., officials said. The incident was being investigated as arson and a possible hate crime, said police in the city about 30 miles (48 kilometers) north of downtown San Diego. A note was found in the parking lot referencing the shootings this month that killed 50 people at mosques in the city of Christchurch, New Zealand, police Lt. Chris Lick said. He did not elaborate about the contents of the note. Investigators did not release information about a suspect. The fire caused minor damage to the building's exterior. Seven people were inside the mosque at the time of the fire, police told the KNSD TV station . They were able to put out the fire with a fire extinguisher before firefighters arrived on the scene, KNSD reported.
And right winger's aren't a problem amirite guys? MAGA!
Right wing beliefs =/= people who want to kill all muslims/non-whites. Don't be stupid about this, you know better.
Yes, being on the right-wing side of politics is a clear indicator that you are in favour of violent ethnic cleansing. Congrats, you've really figured this one out.
I don't want to just pile on you, as it doesn't do anybody any good, really, but I think one of the sad and destructive things about politics over the last few years is how left and right-wing people are appearing to increasingly doubt the other "side's" humanity.
Your shitty onesidedness is just as shitty as the thing you hate and will only perpetuate said behavior. You're directly part of the problem.
Being called bad causes islamophobia in conservatives?
A sad trend that likely won't stop.
Right-wing extremism. Don't confuse most republicans or people who support the GOP was right-wing extremist. Leaning to the right doesn't mean you suddenly support ethnic cleansings and nazis. A lot of people vote republican because they're from really poor and disenfranchised rural areas, so there is a lot of pent up anger and frustration. Someone comes along and tells them their problems are to be blamed on the other party (instead of the local/state/federal gov't). Suddenly you have a voter base who will vote for your party. Now the political atmosphere and a lot of the shit that has been going on has really intensified already flawed people's beliefs and has created the situation in which radicals feel they can comfortably operate. Not to make excuses, but mosques, synagogues, and even some churches have been targets for a while. These past few years have shown that no one is exempt from violence or persecution.
If only society wasn't pushing these oppressed people to their limits, it could have ended differently.
But dude, both side are equally to blame, because compromise is always correct /s
There's extremism on both sides here, and that's the actual problem at hand. Just leaning or being on one side does not suddenly mean you actively endorse the extremism on that side. On to the topic of the thread though, sadly, I feel like incidents such as this are going to become more common. The NZ shootings essentially woke people on this extremist side up, and there's going to be copycats essentially trying to spread the message of "NZ was only the beginning." I just hope the other side doesn't resort to the same extremism in order to try to combat it. Yeah yeah, you can argue "these people are pieces of shit and deserve to die" (as horrid of an argument that is), but in the end by resorting to the same measures they are, you're essentially showing you're no better than them. Hopefully all this tension will just cool down over time, but I feel as more and more extremist points on both sides become easier and easier to spread due to the power of the internet, tensions will only rise as more and more are indoctrinated.
Right wing extremist attacks are much more prevalent then left-wing extremism. Yes, both sides have some examples of terrorism/violence, but right-wing extremism is leading the way for the most part.
I'd actually like to hear an example of the extremist left he's mentioning
Far-leftist anti-Muslim extremism at that.
No it isn't.
Also left-wing extremists overturn garbage cans and break windows. Right-wing extremists murder people. They're not directly comparable.
I think he was being sarcastic about the entire post he was responding to. But I might be wrong
IDK I feel there's still a pretty big difference between murdering random innocents and specifically targeting people who defend doing it.
I disagree, I think that is a stretch. I think it is fairer to call those people protestors as that is what normally happens during protests. There has only been a few cases of left-wing extremism. These are more recent 2000's attacks. 2017 Congressional baseball shooting 2016 Sniper attack in Dallas 2016 Shooting in Bristol 2012 Family Research Council These are a few examples of left-wing terrorism. My whole point to the other post is that the concept applies for both sides. I don't believe that the majority of the left/liberals/democrats would support the attackers in this case. The same applies to most average republicans, they don't support right-wing extremism. It is important to also note that while the examples I posted are good examples of left-wing extremism it is shown that 2/3rd's of homegrown terrorism is individuals with alt-right ideological beliefs. Which that in itself is very troubling.
