I'd rather shit in my hands and clap than give any money to Epic Games at this point, fuck their exclusives I'll just play other shit.
So far the only things of notoriety that the Epic Store has done so far is poach games from Steam just days before release, spyware the shit out of your Steam folder and themselves admitting that the Epic Store is aimed at developers/publishers, not gamers. Gee I wonder why gamers don't fucking like you.
Well see the best way combat corporate indifference and mediocrity is to monopolize everything and then make it even worse.
It's like they don't understand why people happily go to places like GOG, Humble Bundle, and Itch.io as an alternative to Steam. Fuck, even EA has decent customer support, and they're a bunch of greedy fuckheads.
If developers were going Origin only on their own volition bc of only taking a 10% cut or something I'd be way more ok with that than this bribing bullshit.

They know why people don't like them, they just can't go all out and admit that they fucked up since that would piss of investors.
They are doing good for sharing their wealth with the industry. That's about it. Everything else they do is worth condemning. He argues two points: A] 88/12 and unreal engine revenue share Okay. This is great. Less money for the distributor. I think most people agree with this. However, this is not why people are upset, it is the exclusivity deal that every article inclined not to mention. B] Store curation Personally, this is fair. You want to allow what's in your store? Be my guest, as long others (like RPGmaker games which have the tendency to be rejected just because how primitive they look) have other places to publish their work. Consoles do this so I say it's fair game. Steam is not doing worse by allowing everything in because they DO have curation, it is the Store's front page. People who complain about it don't actually use the store; or unfortunately had one or two tags ruined it for them. Trash are mostly invisible in Steam. Game you don't like aren't trash. Oh, he conveniently left out everything else. He asks that developers endure the initial hardship of criticism. Guys, this is how you become the villain. To add, a lot these stories are spinning the narrative that only Steam fanbois are crying about it. Please. People not in the know are definitely eating it up.
Either way, most stores are already curated, so I don't see what's the selling point here. People keep saying Steam's hands-off approach being the devil, which isn't. It has ups and downs. Although bonus point to them for not suffering the same fate as Google Play Store, where the rich and successful dominates the chart FOREVER.
I made an account there once, and apparently you can only have your account deleted through their customer support. Needless to say, it's been a good many months and no email back. And why do I want to delete my account? Look: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/222725/1405ecbf-a899-4729-8c24-a14d6b8b91f3/image.png Changing password does nothing, I think there was a massive leak of user info at some point and they won't let me delete it despite this. I hope every employee finds a lego brick in every shoe they put on.
