It's likely Netflix's The Witcher, unless there's another video game adaptation coming up that hasn't been announced yet. Beattie mentioned this wasn't the first time, either.
they should just forbid emilia clarke and maisie williams because those two are the worst actors in Got (and arguably on tv overall). very happy i stopped watching game of fanfictions midway through season 5. how could season 1 have been such perfect television and then it was just a downward dip? 2 was fine, 3 was fine, 4 was fine, then 5 and apparently 6 and 7 were just turbotrash.
What? I actually think Maisie did a fantastic job as Arya on the whole, and George RR Martin said he thought she was the most accurately portrayed character in the first season. I also think Emilia Clarke tends to do a reasonably good job. She's not the best on the show, or whatever, but she's definitely not the worst.
Stop parroting shit you read
Flaming hot take of shit
"stop having independent opinions" is all i'm reading right now. i admitted to the quality of the series and then admitted to the loss of quality. what more do you want? my unbridled love and passion for it?
It's pretty much universally agreed that season 7 was worse than earlier seasons, and I know people disliked the Sand Snakes and a few other bits from S5 /S6, however the show was still good. I'd say it went from being an excellent show to a really good show, not from great to 'turbotrash.' That's ridiculously hyperbolic.
congratulations on your subjective opinion, have a gold star
I gave you a coin so you can donate it to Leon's school reward card. He already has 4 gold stars for his independent views on the Third Reich this semester, so if he gets another one, the teachers will be providing him with a new set of crayons and a Dr. Seuss book.
what i watched of season 5 was awful except for Hardhome which was great. and judging by my friend who has the exact same opinions as i regarding game of thrones, the only difference being he kept watching instead of i who quit watching, he took finds season 6 and 7 to be quite awful. so i'll go by my own opinion. why should i waste my time watching 2 seasons i have no interest in watching when the plot and characters have gone in a direction i really find to be out of place and rather poorly done.
also its fucked up how youre comparing my opinion on a tv-show to the third reich. are you claiming i dislike the show for political reasons or what?
You're very welcome to dislike the show, but defending your point of view by saying it's your independent opinion when it is in fact just you inheriting a friend's opinion is disingenuous. I hope you can understand why that's a really dishonest thing to do. I have friends I agree with on almost anything, but there are still sometimes shows we have differing opinions on. I'd be more understanding if you hadn't used such hyperbolic language like 'turbotrash'. If you'd just said that you didn't think it was very good, it would at least be justifiable with your clarification here.
That was honestly just me joking around. 90% of the time, it's wise not to take my sarcasm seriously.
I'm curious if it is actually The Witcher since it's an adaptation of the book series and not the games. Wonder if it is meaning The Witcher that they're using the games as a reference point.
This is Facepunch, you have to add /s or jk to a humerous post or it goes over the heads of 95% of people.
But I do love the other 5% with the very cockles of my heart.
Sapkowski got booted from the production, so maybe?
You can have independent opinions and can spout them. It doesn't mean you are protected from other people's opinions which say your opinion is shite.
Don't want to be called out for stupid shit, then don't post stupid shit. Pretty simple.
Actually I want you to have an independent opinion instead of someone else's
When did that happen?
So wait, was it the "other party" that banned him or his Contract?
Actor Ian Beattie was speaking at MCM Comic-Con Birmingham, where he said: "It's quite unusual because there was another show, that I'd rather not name if you don't mind, which was auditioning.
"It's based on a video game and I can't remember if Amazon or Netflix were doing it. But at the bottom of the casting call: 'No Game of Thrones actors'.
"And that's not the first time that's happened. And I'm thinking, there's some pretty bloody good actors in Game of Thrones. What the heck? But they did not want any form of brand recognition. That's to do with the identity of the show. This is obviously a show that sees itself as a Game of Thrones-type show.
"It isn't out yet, it's being made I think as we speak. So they obviously don't want any crossover whatsoever, which is fair enough. I won't be watching it, but OK."
If taken literally auditions for The Witcher wouldn't allow anyone who was worked as an actor on Game of Thrones in to audition for a role.
I agree with you that season 1 was wonderful and then it started a slow descent into shit, but I don't have a problem with any of the actors in the show, just the writing.
What really gets me is the common, and basically created idea that Emilia Clarke and Maise Williams are bad actors
Like, cool, I guess you read 4chan, 8chan, or any of the other highly "Female actors are terrible" part of the internet.
No one I've ever asked for clarification about "Why they're terrible" has ever said anything other than "I just don't like them" in essence.
You can not like them, that's fine, but they're good actors, and going "They're terrible actors" and acting as if that's a definitive truth is just annoying to anyone who doesn't feel that way.
Calling something "Turbotrash" because YOU don't like it is pretty dumb, and is bound to leave people with a sour taste in their mouths, and they will say "hey fuck off" in regards to your attitude.
Emilia Clarke is fine when she's allowed to show some emotion other than rage.
Your opinion is not unpopular or controversial. Plenty of people don't like Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams as actors, you aren't cool or contrarian and your opinions aren't independent.
I really don't think it's fair to say that the show has ever been shit. It is definitely less good than it was the first few years, with a big drop in quality being noticeable in season 7 due to the show running ahead of the books, but even season 7 is better than most shows on TV. I accept that my emotional investment in the characters will colour my opinion of later seasons to a degree, but calling it shit seems pretty unreasonable.
The weird thing is that I've never heard anybody claim that Maisie is bad. I think she was the best young actor on the show in the first couple of seasons, and certainly better than Sophie Turner despite being younger. I have seen people suggest that Emilia Clarke is bad, possibly due to her less than stellar performance in that Terminator: Genisys thingy, but I think she does a pretty good job in GoT.
Not even Humphrey Bogart could have saved the trash fire that was Terminator Genisys. That movie was purely terrible. For some reason, I enjoy it for being so dumb, and terrible, but it is terrible.
I'm not gonna try to convince you, but shit is the politest term I have for the writing in season 4 and onwards. Everything else, the acting, effects, set is basically perfect to me. I don't understand why people shit on Emilia or Maisie's acting either, I think it's pretty good.
I agree the writing in the later seasons dips, no question. But people harp on about Emilia Clarke being a shit actor for always making the Emilia Clarke face (which is just her face) are literally just parroting memes and it isn't a reflection of her acting talents. She is a fine actor. And I don't know what anyone's issue with Maisie Williams could possibly be.
I honestly think Emilia is a weak actor, not terrible but just leaving a lot to be desired. Too many times in GoT she has the depth of a puddle.
But Arya is a fine actor, what the fuck
I think people mistake Emilia's character's straightforward and brazen personality as shallow acting
